Been wanting a 39M for a while. laugh Made in 1971 only. 20-inch octagon barrel, 15 round capacity. One of 3,824 made. Scored it for $550. Actually sold told two other guns and bought this and still had a little cash left over. I installed the Skinner sights.

That is a great looking rifle.Have you gotten a chance to shoot it yet?I have a Marlin 39 Century I bought last year.It looks a lot like your gun. When you changed the sights over to the Skinner did you change the front sight?I installed a Skinner on mine but I need to change my front sight to a higher one. What size is your front sight? What does the medallion on your receiver say?

I have put about 200 rounds through it already. Yes I changed the front sight, then changed it again as it was still low. I need to file the sight on there down some now to get it right. The medallion says "The right to bear arms...1871-1971" with the NRA emblem.

Congrats, VERY nice find. I've been looking at shows for a 39M for a while, you got a great deal, I think.

I aprreciate it. Very happy with it. Could not believe my luck finding it in an octagon barrel.

www.skinnersights.com makes/markets receiver peep sights (and more, like higher Patridge front sight blades) for Marlin leverguns that fit factory prep D/T'd holes for scope mount bases.

They also make a minimum sight, the LoPro, which is just the aperture post, which can thread into a D/T's hole atop any rifle's receiver or bolt top - I use them atop the bolts of my Rossi Model 92's as a bolt peep sight.

Very high quality, very reasonable pricing, with excellent communication and custom features on request at no extra charge, the sights are made in Brass, Blued Carbon Steel, or Stainless Steel.

Thinking your right, that would improve the looks considerably. Not like it's gonna go anywhere, at least in my lifetime.

a most desirable rifle! Should be a good shooter too. My old eyes won't allow Skinner sights, or other iron sights though. I have to have glass on all my rifles now.

Lucky find, and I'm happy you scored it.
