Yep. San Antonio Mtn and west to the tops of the Brazos. Lots of very good country and lots of elk. I've hunted that at least three times, starting in 2000. its of hunters, but the locals are all road hunters. Never saw anybody else in the woods or more than 1/4 mile from the roads.
Get a few maps and look closely. You will see that the area consists of several overlapping mesas dipping to the east. Not a whole lot of steep country. The biggest bulls I found there were up on the high flanks of SA mtn. Mainly the west and north flanks.
Enjoy.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Broke off and Jawbone are other areas you should know. It an get a bunch of snow! I will be there 12-days in September, my favorite area! Lots of smaller bulls and a few 300+. Good luck!
Good Shooting!
