Hello all, a buddy and I are trying to plan an OTC archery elk trip next September in Oregon. We don't know any hunters in Oregon so we'll be going in green. Any advice would be helpful. I am willing to trade info in AZ (deer/elk/archery/rifle). One of us will be in Southwest Oregon area next week for 3 days of hiking and scouting- any tips on where to look would be awesome. Thanks.

If Ya want rosies I'd look to the nw corner, saddle mtn, around Astoria, seaside area...
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

Thanks. We are not particular on species, I'd love to shoot a Roosevelt but not a requirement. Just anywhere with a reasonable chance of getting into elk on a DIY hunt.
I should add we are young-ish guys in reasonable shape so we are interested in any terrain.

Almost every unit in the state has elk, most of it over the counter. The central and northern coast has a bunch of elk. So does NE Oregon and some decent places to hunt over the counter. The Cascades have elk, a lot of hunters and much lower success rate. I do really hunting there but understand that you're going to see less animals.
