I've been playing with my red pad 270 Win. Most people use the heavier 150 grain bullets in these guns but I couldn't get them to shoot under 1.5" at 100 yards. I decided to try the 130 grain TSX bullets and got them to consistently shoot three shots into an inch so just for fun, I decided to try the 110 grain Barnes TTSX and Reloader 15 powder. I was amazed at the results.

These are the first loads that I tried with this bullet. Except for one shot that I pulled with the 51 grain load, this gun shot everything under an inch and two loads under half an inch. The 51.5 grain load is shooting one hole at 3337 fps so I don't know if I have to try any other loads.

Those are, of course, very good results. Are the bullets seated to touch the lands or backed off a bit?

The bullets are .050" off the lands, all my shooting with Barnes bullets have gotten better results with a long jump.

Is yours a #1B or A?

My #1B shoots extremely well with 130 Accubonds, and Reloader 22. Plan to try some R23, which is said to be more temp stable.

My late brother had two Liberty model Rugers; a 77 in .220 Swift, and a 1B .270. Both were stunningly accurate. He used Lee Target Model loaders, very cool stuff at the time. Regrettably, he sold the .270 when he got sick, and I wasn't able to acquire it. As far as I know, he didn't have to fiddle with the bedding at all.

I bought mine about in 2013, IIRC. It is remarkably unfussy. The load shown below is the 2nd one I tried in it.

130gr Ballistic tips are a little too explosive in it at close range, when pushed over 3150 fps. Accubonds seem to shoot as well, and hold together better. I can see running Partitions, or TTSX for bigger critters.
