FX makes some killer airguns! I need one of those carbon fiber tanks, never could afford one so far, have two scuba tanks; one aluminum 80 and one steel 80. With all the rimfire ammo sold out for a while, I'm glad I've got a good airgun.

I've also had a Air Force Condor in .22. and a Daystate Hiuntsman in .20.
I use a Nitrogen tank to charge the carbon tank to charge the gun. Pricey but worth it,IMO.

I forgot to give any i.d. for my rifle in the first post, my bad. It's an Evanix AR-6 Renegade in .22 caliber.

Nice looking rifle. Mine's in 22 too. JSB 18.3gr. shoot really well. How do you like yours?

Curious what something like that Evanix shown here runs pricewise? Before and after adding good glass to it?

I never thought of using my Ni tank for an air gun...duh.

Yes, that is a pellet pouch.
Nitrogen tanks with their 6000 PSI fill pressure give you a lot of fill ups to 3200 PSI.
An good air supply is the bigger half,IMO, of the battle getting into PCP air rifles.

PCP's run from a little under $400 to terribly expensive
$2000 and more. The Evanix I've got is now a discontinued model. It cost $540 when I got it in 2009. The newest version has a shrouded barrel and costs considerably more.

Scopes run the gamut from $40 Chinese junk to as far as you'd want to spend, like always. I like to stick with medium priced models, like the Weaver I have on mine. It's an RV-9 3-9x 32mm AO.

As for the air supply, there are basically three options. First is a hand pump. They run from $200-$300 or so. Second option is using scuba tanks. They are available in aluminum 3000 psi, aluminum 3300 psi, steel 3442 psi, and sizes up to 120 cubic feet. Prices range from approximately $200 to $500. A high pressure carbon fiber hooped wrapped tank that can take 4500 psi is the other tank option. They are very expensive, around $600. They usually come with very high quality fill valves and microbore hoses, which adds quite a bit of value in spite of the initial cost. BUT not all dive shops can fill to 4500 psi. Some people know fire department personell and can get their tanks filled at the local fire station.

There is also the high pressure nitrogen tank rental option. They are huge heavy cylinders that can be got at up to rougly 6000 psi pressure. Getting pretty advanced and invested in the air rifles if you went that far.

I have had a SamYang 909 for a few years now; it is a .45 cal gun. I shoot .457 muzzleloader round balls with it. I also swage up 200 grain LSWCs that I cast for my 1911 - from .452 to .458.
Great fun as a shooter. Quite accurate. Very loud. It has a noticeable amount of recoil....unusual because we don't usually associate Airguns with felt recoil.

The info about charging these things with air was very nicely done. Acquiring the "infrastructure" is the biggest bother and, as noted, a substantial expense.

I also changed the charging probe and fitting to quick disconnects.

That will leave a mark.
They can/are very loud without moderators/shrouds of some type.
My Air Force Condor shot the 25.4 gr. JSB monsters at 1040 fps and was not a whole lot quieter than a 22 short.
I added a after market Air Hog shroud that made it very quiet but added quite a bit of length to a already long rifle.

My Daystate Huntsman had a pretty fair crack shooting in the 820 fps. range without a shroud. A nice shroud is now offered with that rifle but at the time I would of had to send the rifle in to have it installed. it was my first repeater and I loved that rifle's compact size, accuracy, and trigger but it's limited air reservoir and noise left me wanting something else.

Ended up selling the two and buying a FX Royale. I wanted quiet, lots of shots on a fill, light,good trigger and a repeater.
Been pretty happy with it.

Without question, that FX in walnut is a sharp looking gun and if it is as productive as it is good looking, it looks like a great investment. How did you end up feeling about the noise levels of your FX?

It shoots very quiet. I am very happy with that rifle.

Let's not forget the compressor option.

Compressors....I took a look at the Shoebox Compressor just the other day. It is very tempting. I already have the 120 psi set up.....maybe....?

I had a .25 Marauder arrive on Friday. It should be going gangbusters, only the FX pump wasn't in when it was shipped. That should be arriving Monday/Tuesday.

As well, there was the fact that I went with the seller recommended "High" rings. Which leave about 7/8" clearance between the objective and the barrel shroud. It makes for a good chin weld. Cheek weld, not so much. "Medium" rings are en route, and I'm betting I'll wind up with a set of "Low" rings on the taller side of that spectrum, if the scope doesn't interfere with the magazine.

That said, the air chamber was pressurized, so I took a few shots. It's a bit louder than I expected, though I'm willing to bet that I'm hearing a lot more than a bystander would - there's a definite "ping".

I'll leave it stock for at least a week - then am thinking giving it the BStaley O-ring treatment. If I finish the three to single phase conversion for my lathe, then new, more efficient baffles will be created as well. Maybe try the pvc hose de-ping treatment as well.

And just think - less than 4 cents a shot, and will smack like the hammer of Thor. Well, relative to the RWS 48 .177 that is...

Ever since I stumbled across "Tedsholdover" on youtube, i've wanted a PCP airgun.

But I blow my money on shotguns and bird dogs lol. A PCP will eventually find its way in my arsenal though....heck soon thats probably all big brother will let us own.

With the improvements and capabilities they are making these days it is only a matter of time before they are regulated right along with firearms,IMO. Hope I'm wrong.

Especially if they are painted black. ;-)
