I have a M70 FWT. Sweet little rifle. Almost duplicates 25/06 ballistics in a light handy package.. Essentially a modern 257AI.

But it's a dismal failure from a commercial standpoint. Ammo and brass may be hard to come by in the future.

Not sure exactly what your question was. did that answer it?

well I do own a nice 25 wssm in a SS controlled feed M70

this one started life with a wood featherweight stock on it but I've moved to a synthetic today

it's a fun rifle for me as I handload everything.

not a bad shooter, but nothing spectacular compared to many 25-06s I've owned or built.

About the same balistics but a much lighter package overall.

mine feeds perfectly and the only real issue I've ever had was I learned to aneal my New Win brass before ever shooting it.. Neck splits if not....not a big deal.

feel free to PM me if you have questions

I've seen things bad about the round itself. Burning out the barrels, to premature throat erosion, etc. had any problems?

I like the 25 WSSM and currently have 16 Winchester/USRA 70 chambered for it.

Here is the distillation of my experience with the 25 WSSM since 10/04:

1. It is hard to find anybody who owns a 25 WSSM who doesn't have good things to say about it.
2. It is hard to find anybody who hasn't owned a 25 WSSM who doesn't have bad things to say about it.
3. The 25 WSSM is, performance wise, the same as a 257AI. A little faster than a 257 Roberts or 250AI and a little slower than a 25-06 or 25-284.
4. Winchester/Olin WSSM brass is very thick/heavy. Most of the 25 WSSM ammo that I shoot is made with resized Federal 223 or 243 WSSM brass.
5. None of the Browning or Winchester/USRA 25 WSSMs had chrome lined barrels.
6. The WSSM guys hang out at www.wssmzone.com, so you might get more input over there.
7. If you want to dialog about the 25 WSSM, feel free to PM me with you questions.

Jeff
