How do they work for target practice? I've got one on the new bow. I really like it, its easy to focus on.

Only problem, is that I don't hunt from a stand. Does this mean I'm going to need to go with a pin style sight instead? Does this make the pendulum pretty much a no-go for an OTG hunter?

Stepped back from 20 to 25 yds, and my arrow hit just barely on the bottom of the target...thats when I figured out what the problem was.

So...what do yall say?

Pendulum sights were designed for the treestand hunter, with that in mind I would opt for a regular set of pins, just keep it simple.

I kinda figured...the elevation allowing the pendulum to swing n all...

Guess I'll be tryin out the other two pin sights I got today and see how they work.

I'd lose the pendulum sight, get a good fixed pin sight, and invest in an angle-compensating rangefinder, like the Nikon Archer's Choice.

If you like the single pin style then check out the Sportsmans Special from Sure-Loc. It is a single pin sight on a slider so you can range the target, slide the pin and shoot.

I loved my Keller pendulum sight, and am really thinking about going back to it next season. On the Keller sight it had a set screw that you have to lock in position when hunting from the ground, and when hunting from a stand you loosen it up so it swings freely. I like the single pin sights but I can't stand the sliders that you have to adjust as the deer is walking in to you.

I use the Trophy Ridge Pendulum sight. Simple to use. Mount the sight and with the pendulum locked down, you sight in on the ground at 25 yards dead on bullseye. When your in the tree, you just un-lock the sight and let it swing. It's good for out to 25 yards swinging. For ground use you leave it locked.

Like any other sight, you have to practice so you know your yardage when in locked down posisition for ground hunting. The bows of today shoot so flat that on the ground, 10 to 25 yards it's dead on anyways. I shoot the Mathews DXT 70lbs at 29"..

I ended up goin with the three pin sight I already had stashed away. Got one pin set, and then its been rainy and windy as all get out since, so I'll probably get back out today and set the other two.

Kept the pendulum for when I get the nuts to get up in a stand (doubtful that'll happen anytime soon grin )
