I have one and need to get rid of it. Whats something like this worth? It is a 50-70lb draw weight and 27-29" draw length. Has a nice sight, rest and a Scott release.

I'm going to hazard a guess at about $225.

The Z-Max is an old bow.

Yea, its about 98 vintage IIRC.

I owned its predecessor, the Z-Light.

It was the last compound I bought before I went to stickbows.

A 14 year old bow? I would say $150 tops for the package. Bows don't hold their value good at all and a bow made 14 years ago is pretty antiquated by today's standards.

Well, it IS a Mathews. I don't recall ever seeing ANY Mathews sell for under $200 on fleabay or AT, and usually quite a bit more unless it had bad limbs or something. That is another issue. You can still GET limbs/parts from Mathews for their old bows, which increases their value.

Yeah, but it is a pretty old one.
When I was looking it was pretty easy to find MQ and Q2 series loaded in the low to mid $200- range. Even the Outbacks. All much more desirable bows,IMO.
I'd say it is worth about $125-$150- if you want to move it.

You might want to check before advertising it, but Mathews limbs are usually only adjustable by 10 pounds. So you either have 50-60 or 60-70 pound limbs. And unless you have extra cams with it, the cam on it is draw length specific and not adjustable per say... But they are right on the value, probably around $200.

That's interesting because the owner's manual states that limbs have a 10 pound range and the cam has a one inch range. Sounds like you got an oddball. Should be worth more money that way.

Right on the Mathews website you can go into the "discontinued bows" page and look up all their bows and specs from the past.
The Z-Max was pretty fast for 1997-2001.
It was faster than my 2004 Legacy.

Yes, it was. It also drew pretty smooth and wasnt real loud.

I have been shooting a Z max for 15 years. It was THE speed bow when it came out. I bought a Mathews EZ7 for this season. I bought one for my 15 YO son first, and really liked it.

I can't bring myself to selling the Z max, but I will probably do so. I really don't need a "back up bow", but I also don't want to sell it for 200 bucks or less. It's worth more to me than that.

Archerytalk classifieds is the best bet for a sale. There are still plenty of folks who shoot z max's

I would say around the $250.00 mark. Craigs list and other classifieds are chuck full of used bows some are no more than a year or two old. The Matthews bows hold their value but still with all the supply in bows going cheap it might be worth more to you than what you'll get. Sporting good stores will cringe if you come in looking to put one on the shelf unless you're buying a new one from them as well. They are loaded down with them like everyone else. It's a buyers market to say the least.

For reference, I just paid my nephew $300 for his 2004 Mathews Legacy that was nearly new condition. Bow with all accessories and 6 carbon arrows.
I made it my #1 bow, because it just absolutely destroyed my 2006 Hoyt Trykon at the range.

Now I see why the Mathews guys loved their bows so much.

I've never owned a Matthews but have shot them. I'm obviously a tradition shooter but if I had to shoot a compound it would most likely be a Matthews.
