What is the best Mathews bow on the market today? Is there a better bow than Mathews?

A better bow?

That's more or less up to you and your preference.

If I wanted a new compound I would be looking at Elite's...

You should definately give the Elite's a look. Awesome product ,excellent transferable warranty and great customer service.
I'd choose Mathews, followed by Hoyt, followed by a myriad of others.

You need to shoot a bunch of them and then make a decision.

I am looking for a bow which is smooth to shoot and forgiving. Doesn't have to be the fastest, but it needs to feel good when shooting it.

I just got a new Hoyt CRX 32, last year's NIB at a good discount. Best thing is to shoot a few and choose what feels best to you.

I have a Diamond Marquis its part of Bowtech I like it and all the reviews were great, when I bought it a few years ago, but Mathews are also good..

Just bought a Hoyt Vector 35.....sweet bow; I've shot nothing but Hoyt since I bought a Rambo in the mid 80's.

The last bow I bought was a PSE cyclone 2 back in the mid nineties. I have tried out a few different bows already and I like the Mathews but I kind of wanted to get a feel for what bows are hot so I could try some more. Thanks for the info.

Here's another vote for the Elite. SMOOTH, FAST, and QUIET!! The new 2013 Hunter is the one to keep an eye on. You pay a lot more for less with the Hoyt and Mathews. The PSE's aren't even in the running any more. The CS and warranty at Elite are second to none also. One of my boy's buddies accidentally dry fired his bow, sent it to Elite and they replaced the cracked limb and sent it back very quickly. Still shoots like a dream!

Lets see---
I have a 2004 Mathews and a 2006 Hoyt. I still LOVE the Mathews and "like" the Hoyt. The Mathews looks better, feels better and just outperforms my Hoyt. I could never get used to the look of the Hoyt risers. To me, they are ugly although the Hoyts are built like tanks.

If I were buying NEW, I'd look at Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech. I'm 50 and I'm only going top-of the-line and this would be the LAST bow I'm buying.
Then I'd pick the best LOOKING bow of each brand and then shoot them against each other. I'm buying the one I like best.
Done.

I've decided on an Elite for my next bow, still trying to decide on which one. Stuck between the Hunter, Answer and Pure(if I decide to remain a finger shooter it is doable with this bow)
Compared them to Mathews and Hoyt, the Elites just feel the Best.
Good luck with your search.

The best bow is the one that fits you, and that you feel comfortable shooting. Mathews bows are top end, but no better than top-end Hoyts or other brands. I wouldn't get hung up on a brand, I'd get excited about the brand that you can shoot a six inch group at 40 yards with.

I've shot Mathews, Hoyt, and G-5 Primes, all have good points and bad, the brand label wasn't the important point to consider. A $1000 bow with a poor tuned set-up is still a poor tuned bow that won't group at the end of the day.

Currently running a Mathews Z7 in the woods, and a Hoyt CRX 35 on the range, but it will be in the woods as well. The Hoyt shoots a bit better and "feels" better carrying and shooting than the Z7 does. The Primes were sold earlier this year, just didn't remain consistant over time.

Get a relationship with an archery Pro Shop, and shoot everything on their rack, then see what the brand name is. JMO.
