2015 Best bow goes to...

[Linked Image]

1) Prime Ion (Best of the Test)
$999; g5prime.com

SPECS: 31" axle-to-axle • 71⁄4" brace height • 3.9 lb. • 80% let-off • 279 fps

TOTAL SCORE: 89.125
We’ve been saying that Prime was on the cusp of greatness, and now the company has arrived. The Ion’s Ghost grip is a huge improvement over prior chunky ones, and Prime redesigned its 700 aluminum riser and PCXL cam for a better blend of speed and forgiveness.

HITS: One of the quietest bows in the test, the Ion has a back wall that can stop a bus, and a draw cycle we all enjoyed. We shot it very well, too.

MISSES: The Ion finished in the middle of the pack for speed, and those clunky-looking quad cams hurt the fit-and-finish scores a little.

THE SKINNY: Bows that are a joy to shoot usually get killed in the speed test. Not the Ion. This handy, forgiving bow simply did nothing wrong.

I'd like to know who sets up their bows. Because saying the Obsession Fusion 6 had a lot of vibration is BS. These bows are as quiet and dead in the hand as it gets. WHEN they are set up properly. Their "scores" on the Mathews HTR are BS as well. Yeah I hate their bows with a passion. But don't give it BS low marks for a "plastic piece that rubs the wheel". Wonder if anyone explained to their dumb azzes that's how the cam system was designed. I put about as much stock in F&S bow review as I do a politicians promises.

I shot a couple of Prime bows before I bought my Hoyt. I couldn't see what the fuss was all about.

I'm sure the F&S article will sell bows for them though.

I've never even heard of Prime Bows. Just thought I'd post the review.

I shot both of their initial models, good bows, and they have a life-time original owner string replacement program. Solid back wall, deep valley, and decent to hold and shoot. Mine were pretty much vibration free and reasonably quiet at the shot.

While I liked the bows, the factory strings tended to stretch enough over a season, that they needed re-tuned at the end of the first year. The factory program only provides new strings every two years, and if you went custom, the replacement program was voided.

Between this and few marketing issues, the local shop dropped the line. So, I sold mine and moved on. Good bows, the string replacement is a plus if you don't shoot a bunch between seasons.

I love the looks of the Prime Bow , but wonder how long some of these New Companies will be around to service their Life Time Warranty on down the road. Plus the price on new bows are ridiculous these days.

279 FPS on the ion? No thank you.
I prefer 310-320 myself

I'd think any $1,000 bow would be a hummer, but I reckon they say that about Kimbers too, depending on who you ask.

I used to believe Mathew and BowTech made the best bows, but not so much any longer. My favorite hunting compound is the Parker Ambusher love this bow, to bad they no longer make this bow.
