1st night of 3D archery league. Shot a 231 out of 250
6 bulls one perfect round of 50
I'll take it since last arrow I fired was at the fox I killed in mid October
Shot a 12x 236 after not shooting my bow since the league ended last year. Started with a 3x and 2x 50 my first two rounds.
Sounds like fun, sure is difficult to tell much from a 3D scores though. What do you shoot on a Vegas 300 round?
Dont shoot Vegas 300 so couldn't tell ya
And that is where it gets tough to compare 3D scores - was it a buffalo target at 20 yards or skunk at 30? With a Vegas or NFAA target, it's the same target, same distane for everyone anywhere. Makes it real easy to compare your shooting with anyone if you want to. Lots of guys don't like to shoot 'paper', it's difficult and brutally honest.
changes every week distance animals and a moving target
This week was skunk, moving target was javelina, corsican goat, coyote and deer 10-30 yds unmaked distances
sitting on stump, kneeling, standing, sitting in treestand and sitting in blind
Also changes as how you score changes, 5,8,10 or 5,8,10,11 or 5,8,10,12 and where is the 11/12 ring, center or offset.
Heck even Vegas face has 2 "10" rings, which one you using?
All fun!
5/8/10. Use one 10 ring and its stipulated before we begin for the week
You guys sure know how to take the fun out of things

Not meaning to take the fun out, just responding to the comment about it's hard to compare 3D scores if you aren't on the same course!
Want to take the fun out? Shoot with someone who is actually very good, that's humbling. I did it once with one of the better/top 3D pros who worked in a local shop. I was "ok", well we shot together, he used my bow which was to long for him and he kicked my butt! Was humbling.

That dime size inner ring is the X ring, you can keep track of X's and use them for tie breakers. If you are keeping your arrows in either one of the inner rings for the entire round then you are shooting very well indeed.
Yup 6x's this week had 2 5's that really screwed up a good score

Indoor vegas will test your form . 3-d will test your form and how well you judge yardage. Both challenging, both humbling .

and all just practice shots leading up to that one good shot in September!

The best trophy is a downed animal, no doubt ..

Want some fun and challenge, try traditional. Back when I lived in WNY we had an informal outdoor winter traditional bow 3D league. Shot weekly, early Sunday, snow or not. Scoring was +1 for in the kill zone, -1 outside kill zone, 0 for clean miss. I think they still shoot it.

Really want a challenge? Shoot spots with that Trad Bow. My personal best is a 284 25X on the NFAA face.
I sold my long bow it wasn't for me
Ended up shooting a 6x 226 last night but had two 5's
Good to finally meet you Scott!
I had 3 5's and shot crap 211 last night
1st round was a bust got in late didn't warm up and didn't know where the X's were on the targets
Nice to meet you as well. Really wish I could have those 5's back and get over 230. That raccoon killed me on the first round I was the 8th one to shoot and got bounced out by the other arrows.
Yea I got an arrow busted on the coon
I sold my long bow it wasn't for me
For such a simple stick and string they are extremely difficult to shoot well and consistently. I still have a recurve with a couple sets of limbs but mostly shoot my compound.
Tonight was 2 turkey(one spinning) a moving carp and 2 different tree frogs shot a 225 5X
Shot 223 3X. Managed to flinch and miss a target on the last round for a 40 the hard way.
How many arrows got busted yesterday?
Somehow just one although we did pull them after the first four from the spinning turkey.
7x 223 tonight couple bad shots resulting in 5's
Had a complete melt down tonight and shot a 4x 197. Managed to shoot rounds of 31 and 36 without missing any targets. First time I haven't broken 200 ever.
Ugh I thought it was a fairly easy course last night
I'm sure we both could have shot much better
Shot like crap last night 215 5X... had four 5's on the moving wolverine target that killed my whole round never could get the timing down on it
3X 219 for me with a complete miss on the deer on my last shot of the night. Managed to shoot four 10's and an 8 on the mover somehow.
Nice work!... the mover was the bane of my existence last night
I missed last nights shoot so I'll have to make up a round
4X 224 last night bobcat, mover was raccoon, cougar, goat and fallow deer...I thought I shot like crap surprised score was that high
Mover killed me last night. Ended up with an 8x 223.
Shot twice yesterday as I had a week to make up
Badger was the mover, carp, panther, deer and rotating grizzly at 30 yds that you had to shoot in the back right hand kill zone
Shot a 234 5x and a 229 5x (shot a 5 on the deer last round some how)
All in all I'll take it
That's my arrow in the X ring of the 30 yd rotating bear
Unfortunately some one shot through my arrow from a goofy angle as the bear was turning
