Looking for recommendations for my daughter and wife. Both went and shot the samick phoenix I think and did well.
Are there things to look for, brands to avoid, brands to buy, etc. for the 6 year old.
Rocky Mountain Specialty Sports does a buy it once and trade up whenever for $50 which seems like a good deal so she can get it and grow up with it.
Wife shot 20 lb 62", daughter shot a 15# 48" I think.
Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Jon
You could look at the Samick Sage and just buy new limbs at higher weights as they grow stronger.

The other option is to get a compound like the Diamond Edge SB-1 that's adjustable from 7-70# and from 20"-31" draw lenght. Probably a PSE, Matthews, Bear version that's much the same.

You're looking $100-$200 for the first option plus cost of new limbs when needed. Second option is $300-$400 one time most for a ready to hunt kit that comes with rest, sight and small stabilizer.
I just started my six year old with the Mission Menace.

With the bow weight at ~ 3 pounds, she can control it, and the draw weight actually went down to about 10 pounds for her.

For your six year old, the eye dominance can switch as she grows and develops, up to about 10 years old. Something to consider, especially if she has good dexterity with both hands now.
I went with an Infinite Edge Pro for my 6yo. While good enough, I wish I would have went with a lighter weight option. Not in draw weight, but physical weight. That's my only complaint with it for him.

She is left handed right now for eating but was shooting right handed. She may be ambidextrous like her dad. The archery shop guy told us he wouldn't try the left handed bow as she was shooting the right handed one so well on her first attempt.
I'll keep looking around and maybe take her shooting again, maybe this time left handed and see how she does.

We have a green cheap compound that she can pull but is too long for her to get a solid anchor with, may stick with recurves for now.
I think the samick polaris is just one step below the samick sage. Is there a reason I am unaware of to buy the sage, both have replacement limbs?
Thanks again, feel free to offer any other advice.
My boys are right handed, but left eye dominant so they are learning to shoot left handed. Might try a few eye dominance tests with her. Easiest I've found for kids is to give them a paper towel tube and have you look at them. Have them do it with each hand and with both. Both my boys go to the left eye regardless of how they are holding it. Just a thought...

I agree with pointer on the physical weight of the Infinite Edge Pro or the Diamond Edge SB-1 for a 6 year old. I started my son off at that age with a Diamond Nuclear Ice (I think the similar model now is called the Atomic) and just recently upgraded him to a Diamond Edge SB-1 (he is 11 now).
Diamond Atomic. Perfect bow for a 6yr old

Ladies Bow my wife is selling if your interested.
I bought the Bowtech Diamond a couple of months ago for my soon to be 6 year old. He's left handed so there weren't a whole lot of options that I could find.

Very happy with the bow so far. draw length and poundage are both pretty easy to adjust. Seems pretty forgiving to shoot as well.

I like the fact thats its got a large range of adjustment rather than having to get him a new bow every couple of years
Mission Riot would be my pick....
Recurves or compounds?
Diamond Infinite Edge or whatever they're calling the newest model.
I picked up a Diamond Atomic for my 9 year old grandson. So far I can't imagine anything working better. He'll need an upgrade at some point but I think it will be several years before that's a concern.
