[Linked Image]

I looked at a link to your photos, and I saw the photos made in Colorado.

This is a picture I took of Sheep Mountain, which I think might be the same Sheep Moutain shown in your album.

This picture was made in 1965, but I believe on the opposite side from where your picture was taken. The lakes look familiar, and two friends and I fished the beaver ponds in the area near the mountain.

The Sheep Mountain I am talking about is near two small towns named Burns, and also Dotsero. At the time, to reach the lakes and ponds was about a 20 mile drive with 4WD, equipped with a winch.

If this is the same place, I just thought you might be interested in hearing from someone who visited the area 46 years ago.

This might not be the same Sheep Mountain. The one pictured, and where we went, is in the White River National Forest, and north of Glenwood Springs.

1234567,
Yes, found to be a little ways apart after looking on a map. I took those images behind Trout Lake south of Telluride. One could run up quite a fuel bill traveling to all the scenery in Colorado.

Guys: On the issue of replicate names, here's a link to a USGS website where one can surf up the locations of a variety of names and then link to several map sources.

GNIS link

Go to domestic search on the left side for US stuff.

For instance one can overhear Silver Lake or Dead Indian Spring while sitting the barber chair, go home, and shake out exactly where it's located. Been quite handy for me
