Any sites you all enjoy? Looking for a good one.

What kind of experience are you looking for? A place to discuss gear, and places to fish?

I have heard that the faol is "good" or maybe one of the regional / local boards like the Washington flyfishing forum.

Yep a place like this but for fly fishing.

Found the Wa. Flyfishing Forum about a year ago. Just looking for some other good ones.

F A O L. Fly Anglers OnLine

Should be right up your alley. Tho they are fairly heavily moderated...

They are very good, most are but you will have trouble finding one like the 24"Fire. Virtually every flyfishing/tying forum I have found has significant moderation in place.
Could be the potential to post pictures of tying + feathers into threads that have nothing to do with flyfishing or tying but then again.......Has anyone read "Summer's Salmon" by A. Rusty Rat?

I've gotten into two handed rods for summer steelheading.

Try Spey pages

Spraypages is hilarious. 24 hour style for sure. But... If you don't fish two handed you won't enjoy it much- like trying to hang out in the optics forum as a diehard tasco fan

If you're into bamboo clarksclassicflyrodforum.com is about the tops. It's all bamboo so if graphite is your thing don't bother.

I like FAOL, good site, good folks and unless one insists on being rude, profane or boorish you won't notice any moderation.

Imagine, the tyrnanny of "Treat other folks with respect or leave." Why, it's unconstitutional, probably communist, and so bad for our delicate psyches to be forced too live by some basic rules. And the poor squirrels and the droolers would have nowhere to go if such primitive systems proliferated.

the Drake has a decent forum......mostly fish bums

That isn't a great place for gear discussion, questions, etc.

If you just want to lurk, sure. But especially this time of year it's quite caustic over there...

You are forewarned.

The Drake is for entertainment purposes only......and some great fly patterns from time to time. It has it's own flavor, i thinks its refreshing every now and again.

They get winter fever, just like this place, and it self-destructs once a year.

Cute speech. But a forum where a user can't post an honest review of a product, or ones negative experience with a firm, due to the fact that the manufacturer etc,is a sponsor, or otherwise purchases add space, isn't anywhere I would care to waste much of my time... Even if I am in the clock at work. But that said I did think it was a cute speech.

I just finished a slow clap for you. Standing. O.

There is lots of great fly tying info on the bamboo forum, mostly classic flies which happen to be the ones I like to tie.

FAOL is lots of fun too. Good people there for sure. Always willing to help new tiers etc out.

A quick lurk at the Drake looks like it could be interesting.......

Now why did you have to bring up AOD?

Turn it upside down, maybe you will think it added something there too! wink

Don't you have to deliver some photos?

The part about the fly tying over on clarks is very true troutfly. I forgot about that even tho I have used it a lot in the past. Those classic flys are just incredible....and they still catch fish!!! The wealth of knowledge over there is mindboggling.

I don't know that I've ever seen a review deleted of anything on FAOL that was done with tact. If it was done hatefully or sarcstically, yes, and I don't blame them.

I believe he was referring to AOD and others like it... They are worse than a joke... paid mods that are clueless and after making particularly stupid statements think nothing of going in and deleting both their own comments and the comments of those calling them on it. And then claiming they were right all along.

Pathetic joke is being kind...

I find that more often than not, the classics work better than many of the newer patterns, esp on hard fished waters. Fun to tie too. Sometimesit is PIA to locate the materials but then, often there are modern sustitutes that keep it mostly classic, at least in theory, but at the same time the fly works better.

www.westfly.com has some decent content that is geared toward the PNW.
