Hi guys,

looking for some loads, velocity, and accuracy for IMR 4895 and 165 grain and 180 grain bullets.

tks.

Colin
Try a clone of the military match M852 round.

Heavy military, FC, or Lapua(best) brass, Fed 210M, 165 gr. Bal Tip and 42.2 grains of IMR4895.

From a 22" barrel expect to see about 2580 fps, and if it doesn't group pretty well your rifle may be sick.

It hasn't been the best in every 308 I've shot, but it has been very good in all of them.

I've had great luck with IMR 4895 / 41 grains in Remington and Winchester Brass, Win LR or Fed 210 primers and Sierra 168 Matchking, Speer 165 Hot core - flat base and Sierra 165 Pro Hunter. Guns run from 20 inch to 22 inch barrels.

Nuff said,

What does that 41 grain load show over the chrono?
43.5gr IMR-4895
Fed 210M
Lapua Brass
165gr Interlock
2752 from 22" Krieger barrel.

Mathman- 2415fps to 2434fps from my past records. This is out of the 22 inch barrel gun. The day was 70-75 degrees temperature.
I'm running 44gr IMR 4895 under 165 SST's and IB's in my Sako Finnlight. No pressure signs and I have gone as high as 45gr, but the 44gr was more accurate. 210M primer in WW cases, and velocity is 2725 from my 20" barrel.
Thanks guys. I was at 42 grains with a 165 grainer and worked up today to 43.5 grains with no issues. accuracy seemed to improve.
In Winchester brass you'll very likely find a broad accuracy node centered at 43.6 grains. This is particularly true with bullets that occupy the same case volume as the 168 grain Match King when seated to similar overall lengths, the 165 grain Ballistic Tip being an example.
