I have an unopened 8 lb bottle of H4351, and a TON of H4350.
Not sure if I want to get into the H4381, or sell it, or?
I shoot Hornady 180 SP flat base in my 300.
Trade the H4350 for a ton of H4831. Less airspace in powder chamber and slightly higher velocity for you.
Nothing really. Accuracy would be a reason to crack open the H4831 if H4350 doesn't deliver. Your speed with that 180gr should be between 2925fps and 2985fps. I used a lot of H4831 for the 338WM, the 300WM and the 270Win.. H4350 was for the 30-06 and 7x57. So, double check to make sure H4350 is good to go and sell off your 8lb. keg of H4831.
By the way, my best loads were at max. 73.0gr of H4831SC with the 180gr Partitions and 67.0 gr. of H4350 with same. CUP's are very close there also. I mostly used Fed 215's.

I started loading the 300 Mag with IMR4350 and 180 gr Hornady IL BTSP. Was getting 3140 fps, and good accuracy. I went to H4831 and RL22. Of the two, RL22 gives better accuracy, and H4831 gives almost as good accuracy, and better velocity (marginally.) I think the H4831 is a little smoother shooter in a big case like the 300 Mag. YMMV.
The 4831 should show some advantage with the heavier bullets.
Years ago i bought 25 pounds of ww2 surplus h4831. Price was great so i now shoot it in a 22-250, 243, 257bob,270, 270wsm and till i sold them several 7mm mags. It probably won't work in a 300 so you should send it to tombstone.lol

I'd definitely load all 35+ boxes of 300 ammo which that eight pound jug has in it. If you need more than that for all the hunting you plan to do with the 300 in the rest of your life, then I suggest getting into the TON of 4350 and making a bunch of target practice loads for it. Though I don't shoot a 300 Win Mag with any regularity, I do load for several and like what H4831 offers over faster powders. (As I recall, Ric Jamison used to drop 75 grains of the stuff in cases before capping them off with 180 grain bullets and going hunting. That's been a generally decent load in the 300s I've loaded for.)

I've tried H4831, H1000, Re22, RE25, Ramshot Magnum and VVN165.
I keep going back to H4350.
In my rifle I get better accuracy and single digit extreme spread using H4350, Non of the other powders could beat that. They did give me an average of 75-125 fps more velocity which is insignificant in the field.
It is my prefered powder with 180,190, and 200grn MKs in my 700P. It shoots itty bitty groups in that rig and outperformed H1000, IMR7828, R22, and the 4350s.
I've used it in a few other 300WMs as well with hunting bullets. It has been a very accurate powder, not as fast as R22, H1000, or 7828, but good accuracy and consistency.
H4831 is a greay choice in many carts, 7RM, 300WM, 270WIN, and 30-06 just to name a few popular carts.
H4831 pushing various 140s at 3200fps in the 7RM is a mean combo for lopes and deer. Goes with the 270win like peas and carrots as well.

I must have had 2 bad batches of H4831.............
I've never been able to get anywhere close to velocities with H4831 as I could with just about anything else available, including H 4350.
In at least 2 338's shooting 250 Nosler's I get pressure signs at 2650 using H4831, but reach 2700 with no issues in both rifles and book data. I'd like to believe in H 4831 becasue it fits a good niche for alot of what I load for. I just haven't seen it.
