I found a box of these today at a discount price, and was wondering what loads you guys are using for them in 30-06 and 300 Win Mag. Never shot anything quite that heavy in a reloaded round. Heaviest has been a 190 Hornady BTSP.

Do you think a 200 gr Accubond at 2550 out of a 30-06 would reliably expand on moose type targets at say 200-250 yards?

Also, what about the 300 Mag? What kind of loads do you prefer and what kind of results do you get. They sure are a long bullet with that funny looking white tip.

Keith, I have worked up to 58.0 grains of H4831 in my 06 for speeds in the 2550-2600 range. I have not shot anything with them. My experience has been that accuracy has been better at 200 yards than at 100. I wonder if the length of the bullet has anything to do with that (taking awhile to go to sleep?). Best, John

Just guessing, but I would think a full load of RE22 in the 06 would do better than 2600...

A case full of Retumbo got me 3000 fps give or take.

Did ya get a pass through? Was it enough gun?

I have pushed the 200 grain Partition in the 30-06 to 2695 FPS, the AccuBone should do about the same. I used old H-4831 back in the day for the 200 Partitions.

Try H-1000 for the 300 win an excellently consistent powder

The 200 gr AB and RL22 is my go-to load for problem 30-06's, always shoots good

In my 30-06 Savage I tried both H 4350 and H 4831 sc they both gave speeds of just under 2600 fps but the H 4350 load (53 gr?) was much more accurate with groups ranging from 0.5 to 1 ". With a b.c. of .588 it will expand well to over 300 yards. Would make a great moose/bear load.

There isn't a bullet made for the 30-06 which won't expand well on moose at 200-250 yards. I've killed a number of moose at that distance or farther with the '06 and expansion has never been an issue; and that mostly with 180-200 grain bullets. One of the more recent bulls was shot at 399 yards with a 190 Hornady BTSP and the hole it made in the lungs was not insignificant. (It also passed through the animal diagonally so there was plenty of power left.)

I shot my elk this year with the 200gr AB out of my 300 H&H. The shot was broadside and completely passed through both lungs. The elk stumbled for about 30 yards and that was it. In the H&H I'm using 67gr of H4831 and getting 2800 fps.

I would have guessed that the 200 should work, just never shot anything that heavy on game. I know the 180 grainers I have killed stuff with worked real good on moose and bear, just wondering if the Accubonds opened easily, too easily, or not easily enough. Never used them.
