Does anyone have some beginning and max loads for the 130 grain TTSX for the 300 WSM using RL17? I have several pounds of this stuff and would like to see if it shoots well out of my M70's.
In my friend's .325 WSM, I max it out at 71.5 grains with 150 gr Speers. I'd bet you'd be safe starting around 65 grains. Similar sectional density on 150 8mm and 130 .30 cals, just a bit of a change in bore to capacity ratio.
I have shot 69.2 grs of RL-17 with no problems.Speed was 3375 fps just work up in your rifle.Good Luck
I was curious myself. Worked up to 66 grs using 185s. plainsman, your load seems light. I was thinking 3500 fps should be doable w/o pressure signs. What kind of accuracy are you getting?
69.3 is a max published load for the 150 class bullet. Iwould start the develovpement there for the 130tsx and work up another 1.5-2 grains. Maybe even a smidge more. I'm thinking if you get to 3500 w/o pressure signs you might be lucky and on the verge. If you have lots of freebore in your gun you might even have to push up to about 72.5 grains according to my formula's with ql.
