I plan on doing some loads using 165/168 gr in my 30-06 after deer season. Anyone use this powder before? I also plan on using H4350 as well, but heard some good stuff about ramshot hunter. Looking for some speed and accuracy. If anyone would love share their load data would be a great starting place.

I have had very accurate loads with 165 grns., 58.5 grns. of H-4350. Just under 2900 fps . Buckfever1
Forgot to mention that the H3450 seems to be hard find around in the shops. Might have place in order H4350 if I go that route. They Hunter in stock, thats why the question came up.

BF,thanks for the load info, seems like its hard to beat H4350.

You might check out the "Good .30-06 loads" thread that is a sticky at the top of the thread list. I am using Hunter in my .30-06 SPRG, but with 180 grain bullets, so my load won't do you much good.

58.0 H-4350/165gr Hornady works real well[avg 2850-2875 mv].
60.0 Hunter same bullet avg about the same mv.
In my rifle, the difference is nill. You'll do fine with either one.
Thanks for the relpys,I did look thru the good 06 loads, but not much of ramshot powders used. I'm really not set on 165/168 yet, I have been looking at 180 gr. Thinking I might try both on see what the gun likes most. Gun is Marlin XL7 30-06 22" barrel, plans just shoot mostly deer and pigs with max range of 500 yards.

If you try a 180 grain here is my load from the good 30-06 loads thread. This is my load now, I have quite tinkering with loads in this rifle - the Hunter is a very nice powder (ball so it meters well) and easy to find in stock or order.

Winchester Model 70, mfg 1961, 24" barrel (factory).
Hornady 180 grain Interlock Spire Point, (Cat# 3070).
Federal Brass (once fired in another rifle, FL resized).
Winchester Large Rifle Primer - WLR.
Ramshot Hunter ball powder - 58.5 grains.
Beta Master Chrony @ 10 feet, Temperature 75F, 2735fps.
COL 3.274", 7/8" group @ 100 yards.
Data Source: John Barsness article on 24 Hour Campfire (Getting the most out of your .30-06), data cross-checked in Ramshot 4.4 (60.0 MAX).

My rifle likes the same combo - except 57.5 of H 4350, and 59.0 Hunter and a Fed 210. Am trying the combo with a WLR.

JB's article on loading for the '06 has a lot of good information on that cartridge/powder combination:

Another one worth testing might be RL-19. I've gotten amazing results with that and 165s in my '06.

Thanks guys. The JB's article has some pretty good info. Thanks guys for sharing your info, gives me some good staring points. Sure looks like h4350 is hard to beat.
IMR 4350 beats it easily in my '06..

RL19 beats it w/ 165s and RL22 w/ 180s in both my rifles, but in truth I doubt the margin is wide enough that any big game animal would notice the difference...
