I'm a novice reloader when it comes to large rifles. I have always used reloader 25 on a 180 pill with ok results. But with the increasing price of powder, I have started to look around. I can buy magnum for distributor bulk prices. Anyone here have any input on what seems the most versitile powder out there for the 300 rum? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Mark

I use magnum with 200 gr. bullets. I get 3100 fps and very good accuracy. Retumbo is the powder of choice for many with 180's. I have not tried magnum with the 180's.
I think that they designed Retumbo in order to shoot 200gr Accubonds in 300 RUMs................................DJ

I can tell you that my friend I shoot with uses RL-25 for his .300 RUM in a Remington rifle and I use the very same thing myself in my model 70 Winchester stainless. We both use Nosler Accubond bullets in the 180 grain.

The accuracy of both those rifles is under 1.5 inches at 200 yards! He has shot 1.25 inches several times with his Remington gun at 200 yds. I have shot under 7 inch groups with my rifle at 500 yards but my eyes are not near as good as his and I have 35 years on him to boot.
My Dad loads H-1000 in his shooting 180gr Accubonds. Very good accuracy but we dont have a chronograph but they are pretty fast
