Just got a 7mmRM myself and from what I see on LoadData I'll be trying Ramshot Magnum.

Handloader #238 lists a max of 75gr of Magnum behind the 154 Hornady Spire Point yielding 3208 from a 24" barrel.

Are you sure its 3208? I see something like 3081 with a 150 Part. over 75grs Magnum.

7mm Remington Magnum using Western Powders Ramshot

Warning! Notes: A 24-inch barreled Ruger Model 77 MKII was used to fire the 7mm Remington Magnum loads. Remington cases and Federal 215 primers were used. (Handloader Issue #238)

Wt. Bullet Powder Manufacturer Powder Charge Velocity (FPS)
154 Hornady Spire Point Ramshot Magnum 75.0 3,208
Remarks: most accurate load in this gun

Had very good accuracy with H4831sc and 154gr bullets

What do you guys think of Retumbo, I see it gives pretty good velocity?

Thats quite the velocity difference between the Hornady and Nosler bullets.

BTW, what brand helmet is that, nsaqam? You know, in your avatar pic.
66grn of R22 has always been my go-to with 150-160 pills. That said, IMR7828 will match it MV wise.

I don't know what brand it is but it is the helmet of the best F1 driver of all time, the late Ayrton Senna!

Jay...watch out for the sst in a 7 mag. They are terribly explosive. We used to use them in 270's and '06's......very large holes and lots of blood shot meat. Don't use em anymore. Also...we were concerned if they'd start coming apart by nicking a twig or even blades of grass before the target....you know...typical wis deer hunting problem.

I used that bullet in a factory federal superperfomance load to kill a small cow elk last year.
It was hit high behind the shoulder broadside @ 280 yds and took out the bottom of the spine.
It exited and dropped her on the spot - but I picked copper pieces out of some of the loin while butchering.

Only animal I've shot with that bullet.

Don & Old, Im not loading them too hot, no more than 2900fps, Im also going to try them in my 708 with 39.5grs of varget or 38grs of RE15, would love to see if theyre as accurate as the 150NBTs I have.

160gr NAB
62gr RL22
Fed 215
Win Brass

This load shoots 1" or less in both my 7 mags; O.A.L is up for you to decide.

I've had good luck with 139gr sst's on deer and antelope but the 160 NAB does far less damage on average.

Good luck.

I used this very same load in a 24" Remington Mdl 700 BDL. I chronoed 7 shots and got an average of 3160 fps with a 21 fps standard deviation. I worked up to that load with no signs of excess pressure. I will do more exploration on accuracy. I had a 100 yard target set up for chronographing. I had about a 1.75" group for the 7 shots.

I've had luck with R-25 and 154IB's
Posted By: keith Re: 7mm Rem Mag & 154 SSTs? - 06/29/11
Not saying it is the best load, just what my Rem 700's liked and cousin's savage.

63.0-63.5g of IMR 4350
9 1/2 primer
Rem brass
154g SST, Accubond, Sp seated on the lands(very important for bug hole groups)

Velocity is 3050-3150 depending on the gun.
