Anyone have experience running Retumbo and 200gr bullets in there 300 Win Mag.

84.0 gr under a 200 gr Partition was well under MOA. Rem brass, F215Mag primers, 3.340 OAL.
Velocity averaged 3050 fps.
The same load with the 200 Accubond showed pressure.
Kimber 8400, bbl cut and recrowned at 24"

For some reason people here on the fire think that RL17 and Retumbo are the answer to every cartridge made.
While Retumbo will work in the 300WM with heavies it is not ideal, I have found with 200-220gr bullet's that H1000 is the powder of choice in my 300WM rifle's.

I've always had good luck running IMR 4350...So.....usually up close to max too....

I like H1000...never used it in the 300WM,but it works swell in the 7mmMashburn Super.Less touchy at top end and consistent performance/POI throughout the year,hot or cold.
Retumbo has been good,but touchier at the top end,and can vary lot to lot.The differences will catch you off guard sometimes....

As a matter of fact, I've had very good luck with AA3100 too but I can't find it anywhere so I stopped using it...

AA 3100 was always a good powder in the 300 Win Mag....kinda like IMR4831,which I used a lot of years past.But that is also good, too.

Well since you mentioned it...
In that same rifle 79.0 H1000 shot the 200 Partition into .58".
Unfortunately, I never chronographed that load.
That Kimber also prints the Federal HE 200gr Partition about .5 MOA at @ 2950ish.
Not an especially particular rifle.

Retumbo was fourth on my list for velocity and accuracy behind RL22, H1000, and H4831.

H1000 is the powder behind the US Military .300 WM match (sniper) ammo (specific info available freely online). Needless to say, it was chosen for its accuracy, velocity, consistency, and temperature stability.
Retumbo is king for the .338 Lapua, but H1000 appears to rule with .300 WM.

My load was from the Hodgdon book. 84 grs. Retumbo, GM215m, Win. brass, 24 " barrel = 2964 fps. and <.5". three shot groups when the conditions were good. Scope set on 14x with no parallex (100 yds.).

Have had excellent service from Retumbo in the 300 Winchester magnum, however, rifles are modified to accept 3.600 COL's, and have 26 and 28" barrels.
The 208 gn AMAX's and 200 gn partitions are a thing of beautiful brutality when launched in excess of 3K with these combinations.

I actually prefer RE25 with those bullet weights in my 300WM's, awesome performance and top velocity. I think Retumbo is a little too slow for the 300WM.
I use a load of 79gr of RE25 ahead of a 200gr AB for 3080fps and shoots into the .2's@100yrds.

This thread made me go back in my shooting log.
That particular rifle (which I had bobbed to 24") has shot .3 with the 180 TSX over 76.0 RL22. Velocity was right at 3100.

Boy, this guy wasn't kidding. I pulled up this load from a few years back and tried it in my Rem 700 300 Win Mag 24"

I have been having some success with RS Magnum but this load is even better, in my rifle.
Bullets shot today were all 200 grains. I averaged 3,050 in 75 degree windy weather. ES was 30 or less.
200 ELD-X
200 AB's
200 GK's
200 NP's, the Partitions for some reason out of virgin brass had shots range from 2,898 to 2,943
All loads shot accurate at .5 or less.
For those who just need to know....:D
