Anyone got the scoop?
They claim they are not sensitive to seating depth so you can seat them to fit and feed from magazine. I have tried the 7mm classic hybrid hunting bullet in a 284 win and 7 Rem mag so far. Very easy to find accurate loads.

This is from Berger's newsletter via e-mail:

NEW - Berger Classic Hunter Bullets

For the first time in Berger's history, we have purposefully designed a line of Hybrid hunting bullets that conform to the restrictive dimensional standards set by SAAMI. These bullets were designed for hunters that shoot factory rifles and load from their magazines.

Since these new Berger Classic Hunter bullets must have a nose length that is short enough to comply with SAAMI standards, we get the highest external ballistics performance possible by making the nose with Bryan Litz's Hybrid design.

Hybrid bullets combine the best features of two different shapes. As you move forward along the bearing surface, a tangent curve begins the ogive. Tangent ogives are less sensitive to seating depth. As you continue forward on the nose, the tangent curve transitions into a secant curve. Secant ogives are known to be more efficient in the wind (VLD bullets are pure secant ogives). This combination results in the best of both worlds (less sensitivity to seating depth differences and improved external ballistics performance). Read HERE for more information on Hybrid Bullets.

Another key characteristic of the Classic Hunter bullets is how Berger Hunting Bullets perform when they impact with game. Our bullets are unique in that they penetrate through the first 2" to 5" of tissue and bone. Once inside the vital organs area, our bullets start to expand and while they continue through the vitals, will shed anywhere from 40% to 90% of their weight as fragments. These fragments combined with the energy created from this action turns into hydrostatic shock, which results in massive tissue destruction deep inside the animal's vital organs. This much internal damage leads to rapid loss of blood pressure or organ failure, which puts the animal down fast.

These bullets have been tested extensively in both media and on game. Executive Vice President Eric Stecker took these bullets to New Zealand in April 2012 to test them on game. Over 4 days, Eric took 71 animals at ranges from 55 yards to 450 yards. He purposefully took shots within this range since these bullets are meant for the short to medium range hunter.
