I have a question for you guys. I do not reload but will be starting this Winter so this question is in regards to factory ammo.

Any suggestions on storing ammo? Cabinets that work well for you? Something easily found/purchased or something easily made? I have a third of my safe taken up by ammo right now and I'd like to find a way to store it, and more importantly, organize it. I have tons of ammo for various calibers of various manufacture because I have not started reloading yet. So my ability to organize by caliber is limited in the safe.

I store all my bulk ammo that I shoot alot and frequently in 50 Cal. ammo cans. Other stuff that I take the time to put into boxes, I keep stored on a shelf. There are 2 things to watch:

Keep the ammo in a temperature stable/dry environment

Important: Keep away from open flames...

Good god Shrap.

Im coming to your house when the Zombies come! I have a 'measly' supply of about 2k .40 S&W ammo, and about 2200 .223 rounds.... You got about 10x+++ that! Geesh!

I store my loaded ammo in MTM or Plano ammo plastic packs...

In order from caliber 20 Vartarg to 45-70...all labeled of course

Room tempearture is a constant 48*-55*

Also keep a lever 45 Colt with 300gr loads in the tube magazine

No kids in the house....

Cool ammo storage Shrapnel. Hey, isn't the 3 cans of Goex Black Powder above the propane torch a little close? see pic 2

Very nice Schrap.

Tarkio, the US Army should know a few things about ammo storage so I feel comfortable using their ammo cans.....I just don't have as many as Schrapnel.

Ammo cans and MTM boxes. also any other ammo boxes I can find.

When I reload in bulk for pistol and .223 I use plastic ammo cans and plastic coffee cans smile , those rounds are crimped so no worry about damaging them. For normal rifle rounds I use MTM boxes, but when you get into reloading 500-1k at a time the MTM are bulky and a pain to load.

When I go the range I just load up some mags and a few boxes.

I'm not up to the volume of Shrapnel yet, but if my house catches fire ..... run.

If shrapnel's house catches fire ... run to the next state :P
