I'm yearning for a 300 wsm. Any one have any info or experience with the Remingtons, also looking at Browning A Bolts, and Mod 70's

Well, not sure of the kind of info you looking for, but I own a Remington Model 700 XCR and really like it. Mine is a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation limited edition with a camo stock. The new XCR II has a green stock and a black finish on the stainless barel and action.

I find my XCR handles quite well and carries like it is lighter than it really is. The recoil is quite reasonable, the groups are fine (being around 3/4 inch with most loads).

About the only negative with this rifle is that with that fat 300WSM case it is difficult to put a fourth cartridge in the gun.
That is, with three in the magazine you have to push down pretty hard to load the fourth shell in the chamber. No matter, I just load three in the magazine and go hunting.

I actually have two Remingtons chambered for the 300WSM and would recommend them to anyone. (Even though I am afraid Reminton's quality control is hit and miss these days.)

Thanks Flowers I appreciate the input.

I have a Kimber 300 wsm and I LOVE it. I used it in Africa and it walloped everything.
poz-I'm a nut case about a rifle feeding perfectly. That said to date I've not worked with a 700 (or 7) that would feed a WSM round in a manner which I find acceptable.

Now it will feed the rounds, but like I said not in a manner which I find acceptable.

Far and away if I was looking for a WSM case I'd be looking 70EW, or a Tikka T3 light, or a Sako A7.

Best of luck to ya in your decision

Though I dont have a Mdl 700 I do have an HS Precision in a .300 WSM. I really like that caliber and have shot a couple moose, bears, a goat and a sheep. My go to bullet in it is the 168TTSX. I think you will find you will really like the cartridge if you decide to get one.

I have a 300 WSM in a Rem 700 and one in a Sako A7. Both are extremely accurate with nearly the same load. The A7 holds three in the detachable mag and the R700 holds three in the fixed mag. I don't load a fourth.

Both have triggers that can be adjusted properly. Both are light (700 is in an EDGE & the A7 will be).

If I were to just buy one starting today it would be te A7 by a slight edge.

Edited to add.... I also chose the 168 TTSX for my WSMs and have been very pleased. RE17 and CCI250 in Win brass.

I'm another who can't comment on the 700 in this caliber. I do have a Win. 70 Super Grade and first used this Fall. Accuracy using 168 gr. Bergers is quite good. Put a couple into a moose and the steaks are fine.

I have a 700 and a Kimber in WSM. As already stated the Rem. 700 has feeding issues with the WSM case. The Kimber is very slick I have never had a problem with it feeding. I wouldn't own another 700 in WSM!

Thanks for the input guys. I have a 243 wssm in the Browing A Bolt. It has the feed issues you talk about unless I set the bullets to an exact depth. Once I figured this out I have no issues. It is hard to feed the 4th round when hunting also.

The Sako 85 Finnlight 300 WSM retains 4 down with ease.

Had one in a M70 Coyote. Fed Win brass great, but hated Federal.

Shot very very well with about anything I tried, and liked the results I had with 168TSX far better than Accubonds.
