Bout 26grs of RL15

10-4, worked up to 26 with rl 15 and accuracy was acceptable for Bambi killin at moderate ranges. No crony data yet.

Ya! must be the B.C. advantage the 62TSX has over 70TSX?
62TSX .287 vs 70TSX .314, oop's maybe it's at a disadvantage??

Well that must not be it? maybe it has an advantage because it's a much better design? the TSX is a huge advantage over the TSX?
You cant make this chiit up! crazy

Sorry, no data on that one. But FWIW you don't need that heavy of a bullet in the Barnes. A 50 grain on up will go completely through most of your deer, so keep an open mind and use what shoots best in your rifle. If its a 70, go with it!
Everyone here does seem to like the 62 grainer. Ive settled on the 55 TTSX, and can't picture killing them any deader with anything.
But, <gulp> H335 is your huckleberry. ( don't let stick EVER know I said that)
You can usually use 222mag loads as a start up point, but I couldn't find any for the heavier bullets.

I'm workin with 70's this time because I have about 35 of them left in the box. I think I'm down to 2 62's and a handful of the 53's. I have never be able to get these barnes bullets to shoot anywhere near as good as others in my gun. But when I find a load that is decent, say sub 1.25 Moa I'm gonna load um up an kill me some deers with um!

With any weight Barnes, try seating them deeper. They seem to really like a bit of a jump. I never got any of them to shoot exceptionally well by seating them like I would a CnC bullet.

Well the problem is that this rifle was apparently chambered with a 0 freebore reamer. No throat to speak of. It's my fault I guess because I did not specify that to my gunsmith ( first custom and I'm a bit more educated know). Is already in the case quite a bit. The 70's is a longggg bullet.
Posted By: ingwe Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 08/31/14
All the more reason to try a lighter one that will allow more jump.
Posted By: Bryant Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 08/31/14
Will do that. I probably have enough 53's to work up a load. The bullets are so expensive one hates to go through boxes in load development.
Posted By: ingwe Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 08/31/14
No kidding! But there is no better way.I shot a literal ton of game with 53TSXs.
Posted By: Bryant Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 08/31/14
Just tried several diff. Loads. Not luck at all. I have a range at my house and can load up and try diff things quickly. 2 to 3 inch 3 shot groups at 100 with a rifle that puts everything else in an inch easily?

Might have to go get a throating reamer job to make her shoot barnes. Or keep killing deer with 65 smk.

That is one long bullet... You never mentioned your twist. It would take a fast twist to stabilize that bullet.

I have some, never used them on anything. I agree with other posters that the lighter Barnes are the ones to use. With the smaller .223 case, even AI and .22-204, it would be hard to get much speed out of the 70 Barnes.

Maybe with a fast twist .22-250 or similar, one could work up a decent load.

If you're short on 70 gr. Barnes, I have nearly a full box. Send me a PM.

It's a 1 in 8. I really think that my short throat is hurting me with the Barnes bullets. I can't get much jump. I did shoot a sub 1 inch group with 62 a while back but it was a hot hot load. Do y'all find that tsx bullets need to be pushed tithe max to get best accuracy
Posted By: Bryant Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 09/01/14
The last loads I tried where with 53's.... Showed no promise. Might as well keep trying till there gone.
Posted By: ingwe Re: 223 ai 70 tsx - 09/01/14
Damn! TSXs and TTSXs have never been a problem to get to shoot well in any rifle Ive ever tried!

You Stupid Phuqqers crack me up!

The 70 is simply a 62 stretched to aft, with it's increase in mass and bearing surface, robbing a goodly amount of speed, for paltry BC gains. Read that again. Now one more time.

Use your Imagination and tell me what you Pretend to shoot the 70 i and at what speed. You will want to be careful, citing your Delusions. Laughing!

The 70TSX is an epic Turd.

1000 words and the schit profile of the 70,obviously to make it '15 COAL viable, which was/is a huge disappointment.

53,62,70X's and the magical 75'Max.

It's your Imagination,Pretend with it however you please.

If it satiates your Do Nothingness...then please convince yourself the recent A-Max Dalls never happened.

Laughing!

Very easy to launch the 62 at 3750fps via Swift case capacity. Maybe REALLY knock it out of the Park and dangle a pic of your Swift Bullet Test Bed's "splendor"
