Well, I tried to capture this bullet yesterday and somehow it must've zigged off to the weeds as it penetrated the jugs. I found some pieces of jacket and core, but that was about it. I was sorta determined today to catch it and I did..

I ran this bullet over the same load I use for the 225 PT and BBC in my 338, which is Nosler brass, 71.5 grains of RL17 and CCI250's.

Anyhow, it made it through 4 jugs and was found under jug #5.

Bullet did pretty decent. I wasn't sure what to expect after yesterdays results, but it seems like it opens up decent and retains a decent amount of weight. Pretty decently sized frontal area as well. Haven't shot them for accuracy but they seem to shoot real well in a few other rifles that I know of.

Scotty, held together a bit better than the 225 SST did in my tests, however that was into dry newspaper which is harder.

I'locks are generally better than SSTs in that respect IMO anyway.

Thanks for posting Scotty. I'm wondering if these new interlocks are as tough as the older ones??? I'll be running the older interlocks in my 338 win mag this year for elk. Hopefully I get full penetration and the elk drops in it's tracks. We'll see.

Not sure. I am not a huge Hornady guy to be honest. I like them, just don't shoot a ton of them. Nothing really wrong with the way it came out, the core stayed with it and that's extreme on any bullet up close into the water like that.

I have seen people using 5 gallon pails to test bullets as well, it's probably just about as cheap as well, since those pails can be had for a buck or two.. Either way, I figured it'll give you an idea of what their doing.

I've used the milk jug catching plan to check out quite a few different bullets. I reached the conclusion that I won't be using Nosler BT's or SST's to hunt game with.

I also have no reservations with using Hornady IL, Winchester PP, or Corelocks. They work as advertised.

The one bullet with mixed results for me was the Speer HotCore. With other good choices available I won't be buying them. I did get some Deep Curl's but have not tried them yet.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. I need to get out and do some more .338 cal bullet "tests". I have a very large stack of magazines to shoot up.
