I Just had my 25-06 re- barreled with a 26 in. Douglas barrel. I would appreciate any deer load recomendations. Thanks

115 Nosler Ballistic Tip and Reloder 22.

Around 49gr of IMR4350 with 117-120gr bullets has always been a sweet spot, IME.

I have been playing with a Kimber Montana in .25-06 and am having really good accuracy with 117 BT Hornady American Whitetail factory ammo, which is getting about 2950 fps and sub-MOA out to about 400 for me. Additionally, Grafs had these for under $20 a box earlier in the week (if I didn't buy them all; ). I haven't used this particular bullet on deer yet, but plan to on a trophy mule deer hunt later this week and have had Interlocks work well in the past.

Also, below is an article written by a guy with much more experience with the round than me:

I have got some Retumbo and Magnum to try with 120s when I get home.

Another good article from an author I enjoyed from younger days. Not sure how his loads would work with modern H4831, though:

RE22 and a 100 grain Hornady. Or a 100 grain Speer. Or a 100 grain Partition. Or a 100 grain Ballistic Tip. Or a 100 grain TTSX.

Heavier bullets aren't necessary for deer in the 25-06.

I've got a 26 inch barreled Ruger Target rifle in 25-06. I decided to make use of that barrel length by having it punched out to AI. I'm running 115NBTs and IMR4831 at 3400fps. 1/2-3/4 inch groups with no pressure signs.

Just another idea grin

I use 115 gr Ballistic Tips with RL22. Velocity is 3100 fps and accuracy is sub MOA in my Sako A7. I tried other powders and RL22 gives me the best accuracy + velocity.

If it doesn't like the RL-22, try some H4831.

52gr imr 4831 117 hornady or sierra

I just started handloading this year, but H4831 performs very well with Noslers. I've loaded 115 Partitions, 115 BST and 110
Accubonds with it.

115gr Partition and Retumbo

....or some IMR4831.

I'm going to play with the 110 accubonds after season.

I need to tweak this a little as it seems my latest batch of RL

Used an Oehler 35P
52 grains RL22, WLR, R.P case, 115 NBT

2959 SHOT 1
2934 SHOT 2
2935 SHOT 3
2959 SHOT 4
2941 SHOT 5
2944 SHOT 6
2954 SHOT 7
2947 SHOT 8
2972 SHOT 9
2954 SHOT 10

One of my rifles likes the 110 AB w/ RL-19 (53 gr) the other prefers H4831 with the same bullet.

With Speer CNC 120 gr I have 52gr of I4831 does sub-MOA for me.
Posted By: southtexas Re: 25-06 loads - 10/21/14
Bbear. Is that the Speer hot core or the boat tail. Just curious. Thx.
Posted By: shootAI Re: 25-06 loads - 10/22/14
I use either of the 4350's. Prefer H though
Posted By: Dusty246 Re: 25-06 loads - 10/22/14
Re 25 w/110 Accubond 3300 fps, win cases CCI 250 primers. 3.250 oal in my 26" Sendero.

Between 52 and 53 grains of H4350 with a 100-grain bullet (load from Mr. Barsness).

110 Accubond or 115 Berger with H4831 loaded to 3150 fps or so. My rifle takes 54 grains of H4831 to get there, well above the Nosler max. Same as the Nosler velocity, though.
Posted By: Bbear Re: 25-06 loads - 10/23/14
boat tail.
Posted By: southtexas Re: 25-06 loads - 10/23/14
Bbear. Thanks. I've heard the BT is a little softer than the hot core. Have you had good success with them on Bambi?
Posted By: Evan Re: 25-06 loads - 10/24/14
115vld and imr7828 it's been my go to load for about 5 years.

115 nos bt's work awesome to, I found the most acu rate load in the nose book words awesome.
Posted By: Bbear Re: 25-06 loads - 10/24/14
The Speer BTSP works great on white tails from Texas to Missouri-sized, and mulies here in Texas as well as New Mexico and Colorado, out as far as I've shot them (around 450 yards) and on Black Buck out past 500. But for Axis I didn't get complete pass through on them when shooting them in the point of the shoulder. Hence the Accubonds. Those puppies seem to go through about any deer-sized game and leave a nice exit hole to boot.
Were I to go strictly for white tail I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Speer.

Good info. Thank you

Nosler Partitions & H4831SC
Posted By: Evan Re: 25-06 loads - 10/24/14
I've shot a handful of deer with acubonds and don't think I've had a single pass through. They seem to come apart I've shot them into wet phone books. They hold .

They shoot well and seem to kill even with no pass throughs. Just killed my buck this year with one inside 200yds in the vitals no pass through and dead right there.
