Picked up my Tang Safety Ruger today and need a couple loads.

I have a Bx of 75gr Hornady VMaxes
I have a bx of 85gr Barnes TSX's

I have a tin of H414(win760)
I have a tin of H4895

80rds federal brass trimmed to 2.035 and primed with CCI 200's

45 grs. H414, 85 gr. TSX Win. Large Magnum primers.

H414 and 85 gr. bullets have always worked well for me me in the .243.

Just realized you are using CCI200's. You should be OK, but I have had some issues with H414 and CCI200's in the past in other cartridges. Specifically hang fires in colder weather.

So case length 2.035"
Charge of 45gr 414
I'm seeing OAL of 2.650"

OAL of 2.650 - 2.700. Off the top of my head 2.7 was pretty close, but I'd start at 2.650.

38 grains of 4895 under those 75's should be a dandy

It's interesting you mention that; I've burned a lot of H414 in the 7mm-08 with 140s and CCI 200s and never had the trouble you cite, even in deep cold (-20 F and colder) temps. Those were always loads that filled the case well however.

(My usual loads in the 6mm I used quite a bit years ago were 100s propelled by H4831.)

Yup 243 Win or 6mm Rem H4831 or IMR 7828 are the winners with 100 gr bullets. Magnum Man

Since this is a varmit forum, I guess you are looking for varmit loads. Best stuff I came up with is H414 w/75gr V-max. I worked up the load from an older Nosler and 70gr bullet. use a great deal of caution, max load in my rifle.

75gr V-max is a very fragile bullet. I was blowing them up just going through a paper target!

Damn, it is a big game forum! I don't load anything for big game, strictly varmint's.

LOL may be a big game forum, but he did mention 75 gr. Vmax which is considered a varmint bullet. Might just be 1 thread covers both.

My issues were with larger cases that didn't fill past 70%, and cold weather. Never had an issue with the .243, but I always used a Magnum primer in it, at least with H414. My fault, should have used a different powder in the larger rounds, but it made me paranoid. The whole click...boom thing isn't fun when trying to kill stuff.

From what I'm seeing, I just need to bite the bullet (hehe reloading forum), and get some IMR 4350. Theres. Lot more out there with that powder. Thinking of trying the 95gr federal a as they seem to be a pretty good bullet.
