Just got wind of these, anyone run em in there 7-08? Seems like they would be awesome.

I like Sierras and 140's for my 7-08, but I never figured I needed boattails or HP for my hunting needs. The 140 Pro-Hunter is a deerkiller, too.

Yep, ProHunters will get it done. I don't remember a rifle I've loaded for that wouldn't shoot them really well out to the distance I shoot at game, usually better than GameKings. I've not tried the HP version though.......

I have experimented with them out of a 20 inch Ruger 77mkII. (7mm/08, of course)

On paper, they were stellar! Unfortunately, I traded that rifle before I got a chance to point one of those bullets at a game animal.

On a side note, I loaded the 130 grain HPBT Gameking for my wife's 6.5x55. Accuracy was nice, and she took four deer in one morning with the combo last year.

I'd not hesitate to use the 140 grain HPBT Gameking on whitetails out of a 7mm/08.

I've got several hundred, maybe a thousand, nosler bullets to run through my 7-08. Should last me a couple of years or so. Once that stash is gone I'd like to dabble with Sierra Prohunters and Gamekings. Seems like the 140 gr bullet is a nice match to the 7-08.

I have got to remedy my current lack of a 7mm/08. It is by far my favorite whitetail cartridge. I nearly bought one of the Stainless Ruger Americans I saw at Whitakers last week. Probably should have brought it home. I wouldn't have to load a round to hunt deer for several seasons, no doubt. I've got quite a few put up.....

To may way of thinking though, you are correct. My favorite weight for the cartridge is 140 grains. I've had a great deal of luck with that weight.

I shot a pronghorn this year with the 140gn HPBT. Muzzle velocity of 2930ish. 280 Remington. IMR 4350.

The lasered distance of the first shot was around 430yards. Bullet thumped, he spun and ran towards me, luckily. He stopped at 200ish and I pumped a second in him with a high lung shot. The bullet thumped and he fell hard.

Once I got to him I realized he was still alive but with good blood so I backed off to let him expire. A couple minutes later the SOB got up facing away. In a WTF moment I put a 3rd between his shoulder blades to anchor him. It did...

The final shot was around 50 yards and caused substantial damage as expected from hitting the spine. The damage mixed with the 2nd shot made a pretty good mess.

The first strike must have hit him in the neck and apparently zipped through as I saw signs of entry and exit consistant with the angle. If the neck wound was residual from the follow up shots that means he got 3 in the boiler.

Internally the lungs were mush but there was no discernable entry or exit from the second shot. Pronghorn can be surprisingly tough.

The bullet should have hit just north of 2000fps at that initial range. They are supposed to be tougher than the standard gamekings. I plan on shooting some local deer at close and moderate range to measure performance. They shoot well.

I've shot the 140 gr. Sierra Pro-Hunter and Game King in my 7x57 with very good accuracy from both bullets. Haven't had a chance to use either on game. I have used the 150 gr. Game King in my .270 on antelope. The shot was at 75 yards and the bullet hit in the short ribs and exited behind the right shoulder. The "goat" did a little 30 foot half circle and expired. Entrance was about a half inch and exit about 1.25". I expected a pretty nasty mess inside but the bullet did a job without blowing up like a grenade. The only bad part was the bullet did nick the stomach but very little contents spilled out so no meat was lost. I'm pushing the 140 gr. 7MM GK to 2800 FPS from my M70 FWT so I would imagine results will be quite similar to the .270.

H4350 and 140 Gamekings at 2775fps gets their attention. Best accuracy load in my Sako 75 too!
