I am the new proud owner of a Winchester Extreme weather in 300 WSM and started playing with Hunter and IMr4350 with 180-gr NAB's. Curious to what your go to loads are. Elk, deer, antelope, and targets is the end game. Thanks

RL19 is your powder! R17 seems to be good one for others.. Another one to consider is H4350 as well.

My load that shot phenomenal was
W-W cases
68.0gr RL19
168gr barnes TTSX
FED 215
OAL at Ogive 2.850
AVG velocity 2,906 FPS
65.0 gr H4350, WLR primer, Win case, 180 Nos PT

This load shoots MOA in my M70 EW. I've used this load in several 300 WSM's and it is usually accurate somewhere between 63 and 65 grains. Vels should be ~ 2950.

My other favorite load is 69 gr H4831 in the same components. Same vels as H4350 load and ~ same group size.

IMR 4350 has proven to be accurate, maybe even a bit more so than it H brother but I buy into the whole Hodgdon Extreme thing. H 4350/4831 don't vary much in warm to coldish weather. They all vary quite a bit when its hot or very cold.
BTW: You'll like the EW. Mine was smooth from out of the box and about as low maintenance as a rifle can be. Almost boringly undramatic - its obviously a guy rifle...............

I talked a buddy into buying the 30-06 equivalent. Load development was 56-57-58 gr H4350 under a 180 Nos PT. It liked 58 best and shot sub MOA. Load development done in 1 session. No drama with this one either.

It arrived with RL17 and 168 TSSX, didn't do well. I may have to try RL19.

I liked the H-4350 version but when it became hard to find, I reverted back to the I-flavor. My temps are 20-80 so not that worried about the temp thing.

Thanks, may try some 168/200's.
Wichester brass
federal GMM215 primers
168 TTSX
69.8 Gr. H4831sc for 3007 FPS and .5-.75" groups at 100.
168 gr ttsx pushed by 66.5 gr RL 17, Winchester cases and CCI mag primer. This load runs 3166 and shoots 3/4 groups.

Pretty much the same thing with my EW in a 325 WSM I only had IMR 4007 on hand grabbed a book load for a 200gr bullet headed to the range once zeroed was shooting 3/4 inch groups I was damn that was easy lol.

This is exactly the same as my favorite load for the WSM. My primary WSM has a 22" barrel so velocity is slightly less at 3100fps average. Runs between 1/2 and 3/4 MOA out to 600 yards (far as I've shot it). My second WSM likes the same load with a slightly shorter OAL.
There is a lot of variation in 300 WSM.Some rifles seem to have a little more freebore than others. The one I have doesn't have much if any. Most book loads are too hot for mine, but I'm getting higher velocities at a lower charges.I've alway loaded 165gr bullets in mine and always started low and worked my way up.With 165gr bullets the loads that were near max and gave me the best groups were:
64.5grs Win. 760 (3125fps)
65.0grs IMR 4350 (3015fps)
69.0grs Reloader-22 (3030fps)
64.0grs of Reloader 17 (3150fps)
67.0grs of Ramshot Hunter (3080fps)

My loads run 2.880 oal, they are .060 off the lands, I don't know if that is considered much freebore or not. The only long range shooting I have done was when practicing for an elk hunt a few years back, I was capable of putting three rounds into an eight inch circle off of shooting sticks at 400 yards, I did get my elk, one shot at 270 yards.
Good information.. Haven't worked up many loads for my .300WSM. I am sure this will be a big help.
168 TSX or TTSX and H4350. Decent velocity and very accurate. It is the only load I use in my 300WSM

Excellent. I'd use that load too...

I'm out. Pretty much started with the 165gr. Hornady interlock (BTSP) and ended with the 180gr. nosler partition. Go to powder is and always has been H4350, with a few loads liking IMR4350 if that makes you feel any better.. whistle
Freddy
@ 2.860,I'm usually around .030 off the lands,so that's about .050 more freebore than mine. That is enough to make a big difference in pressure.

man I do not like IMR 4350 because it meters so bad. When I had my 300 WSM I found a great load using H4350 and 190gr Hornady BTSP but I ran out of that powder and that was during the hoarding couple yrs back so you couldn't find.. So switched to H4831 for the 190's man that tikka shot them real well. But settled on 168TTSX and RL19 I figured kill whatever I want in AK.
I wish I could find some H4350 to try. My results, first was a fouler. Hunter and IMR averaged 2890 +/-.

100-yard Hunter

Will play with seating depth and IMR4350 I think.
My extremely accurate load in my rifle is Win brass, WLRM primers, RL-19 and Hornady 165 gr Interbonds. Works perfectly on deer, hogs and coyotes.

My Sako 85 shoots 165's to 1/2 moa with 66 gr's H4350.

RL-22 with 180 AB's.
I'm a fan of the 200 gr bullets in my 300 WSM.....
68 grs of IMR 7828, 200 Accubond, Norma brass lit by a 215 primer = 2917 average of 3 shots SD 4.1....1/2" MOA at 100 yds
I never played with seating depth...just loaded to fit the mag well on my CZ model 3 (Montana 1999)
300 WSM
168gr Barnes tsx
69.5 RL-19
Fed 215
Win case

Anyone try 150 tsx? the 168 gr seems popular here, I may have to give it a try.

I am a 150 gr bullet fan in both my 280's & 300 WSM's. The TSX or TTSX is too long to suit me in the 280's. Currently the 155 Scenar has my full attention in the 300 WSM's.

I am not a fan of monolithic bullets.

Why?
This one shoots very well out of my buddies M70 300WSM EW.

WW cases, CCI250s, RL19, 2.900 COAL, 165 AB. Runs 3130 across my chrono.

I really need to find another 300 WSM... Need to find one in a EW for a decent price..

I don't care for the minimal expansion they most often exhibit.
I've used them exclusively for the last half dozen years and have yet to see one expand minimally. That's only a couple dozen animals ranging from coyote to elk between 140 and 511 yards, though.
I know mention was made about variable freebore. I am getting ready to start loading for a friends M70 fwt in 300wsm. Are they limited by magazine length or is a kiss generally doable with, say, 180 NABs or Partitions?
I would go with 180 Partitions and 64 grs H4350 or 65 grs R17.

2950 fps w/H4350 and 3000 fps w/R17.

That has to be the all-time best shooting 300 WSM load.

Substitute 175 SMK's for cheap practice.
