Guys I know it is stingy to bludge free data rather than buy a manual; but I am told there is data for the 250 Savage Ackley Improved in some versions of the Sierra Manual and I wondered if anyone could look up and tell me what it says for bullets in the 115-117 grain range?
Interested in H4350, Varget, R17 if they are listed.
Feel free of course to tell me to go root my boot.....
I load 43.5gr of RL19 W/100gr bullets and 40.0 w/115gr BT's. powdr
Per my Sierra manual:
Varget 32.3-37.2 max vel 2850
h4350 EXT 36.2-42.2 max vel 2900
no data on R17
For using the RL-17 powder start with the h4350 data and work up.
Per my Sierra manual:
Varget 32.3-37.2 max vel 2850
h4350 EXT 36.2-42.2 max vel 2900
no data on R17
Thanks very much to all you fellows.
For those interested in data for the 250 AI, today I laddered from 40 to 44.5g of R17 with the 117 BTSP Interlock.
THIS IS WITH A 25 INCH BARREL IN A BSA CF2 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.
Top speed on a 3 shot ave was 3044fps at 44.5g. The group at that charge was an impressive 0.8" at 125 yards.
40g - which in my rifle I would now consider a starting load - of R17, gave 2676fps.
Can't get good bullets down there?

I usually just settle for bullets that kill stuff.
