Yep, I am. Settled on 59gr's and tiny groups, never chrono'd it, but went straight to 500 yards after initial sight in and haven't touched it since.

I don't know if there is room for 3 more grains.

An aside: If you have 4064 something close to 52 grains will be really good.

I went out today to test some loads in a 30-06 I recently got and loaded 5 rounds of each charge 59,59.5, and 60 grains with 155 Scenars. First 5 shots with 59 grains went Ito this group, didn't even bother to try the others.

my load is the same as hunters. 59 gr h4350 rem 9.5 primer and the 155 scenar.

Funny, the first load I tried was the 59gr load, basically a one hole group. I was done! 😀

Curious, but how are you figuring 500 yards if you don't know how fast it's going?

Calvin, great question! On my 30-06 I have a Leupold 6X36 with dots, and after zeroing 2 inches high at 100, I fired the one group, then fired 3 shots at 500 yard steel at our range and hit it all 3 times. It's hitting a little high at that range, but not enough to worry about as I have other rifles for actual long range shooting.

FWIW, I consistently got an average of 3000 with 60 grains , I'm thinking this 59 gr load will be around 2950 based on the velocities I got when I worked up loads with the last Tikka. Gonna chrono it next trip to the range when I zero it at 200. Waiting on a CDS dial too, but anywhere between 2900-3000 with the BC of the scenar is gonna work afar.

3000 ain't nothing to sneeze at. Kinda turns the old 30-06 into something new.

Wife requested I go leadless, as we feed a ton of our venison to our young ones. Otherwise I'd be rocking the scenars.

Why is the speed important?

I'd rather know the drop.

Generally when you start plinking out to 500yds, you run your bullet and velocity into a ballistics program to determine the amount of moa or holdover you need. Thus my question. It's a lot of flinging lead to figure out the drop you need to hold for if you don't know speed.
