Well I picked up a bunch of Nosler 95gr Ballstic Tips for my Tikka 243 and have a bunch of IMR4350 so thought I'd give it a try. Anyone had luck with the combo? Or something else that works good. Thanks Jerrad

That combination will work great, likely in a close neighborhood of 41 grains or so.

Yeah that combo is like a peanut butter and jelly. Seems to do better the harder you push em. We stopped at 41.5 grains on my step fathers 1-8" Schneider barreled Ruger.

Shoot deer in the front half and they will be down within line of sight. Fantastic terminal performance. Just wish it's BC were higher.

Don't be afraid to punch shoulders either. The 95s WILL punch both shoulders. Folds em.
So far not having much luck with combo. So far best is 41.5 smashed down going to try going longer than where I started from and see what happens.

The gun usually shoots about everything I throw at it pretty well

I'm sure you'll fall into a OAL and charge that works.
Posted By: Dude270 Re: 243 95grBtips and IMR4350 - 08/03/15
I shoot 41.5 grains of H4350 .005 off the lands and get good accuracy and 3050 fps. I can't imagine IMR wouldn't do as well with a charge weight a grain or so either side of that.

Some guns just don't like certain bullets though, maybe yours doesn't like the BT. It's such a great killing bullet though I would really try to make it shake
Posted By: woodson Re: 243 95grBtips and IMR4350 - 08/03/15
Yup. I have a 1-8" twist rock 243 win barrel. I can't stop shooting the 95 NBT because they melt deer. I want to experiment with the high BC 105s but can't stop.
Posted By: Dude270 Re: 243 95grBtips and IMR4350 - 08/04/15
I shoot 105s for fun and vermin out to 1050 yards, the hornady bullets are awesome at a great price.

I have a hard time leaving the NBTs at home when it's time to step into the woods for deer though. They are just flat wicked
Well I tried a few more loads no luck. I switched to IMR 4831 first load better than any of the other stuff actually good group. So going to tinker from there. Was really wanting to use the 4350 as I have a bunch of it but oh well!

Worth the effort if you can make them work.

I love the 95 gr BT's in my (13 YO daughter's) 6mm. Very accurate bullet. I use R-22 since I have a bunch and it is running 3070 fps. I load to mag length. The rifle is an old 60's vintage Rem 700.

Awesome pills, both me and my son killed our Idaho black bears with them this spring....DRT.

Hope you can make em work
Have you tried switching primers with the 4350 load? I went to the Remington 9.5 with H4350 and the 95 NBT and groups tightened for the .75 inch range to the .25 inch range in two different .243's.
No I haven't. I get a good group then a [bleep] one. I'm about to try some Lapua Scenar's

Don you think the 10 twist may be a problem?

I doubt it. Im shooting 95 NBTs out of a .243 and I settled on IMR4064...but the 4350 shot fine too...one of the easiest bullets Ive ever found to get to shoot.
Mine is a 1 in 10 twist.
Well crap

I use R-22 in both 243 and 243 AI w/95NBTs, 42.5 and 45 grains.
I shoot 4350 and 95 grain Nosler BT's out of my 6mm. It makes deer and coyotes sick.

41.2-41.6 of IMR 4350 with a 95 BT should put you in the node with a CCI 200.

Ive been shooting 43.5 grains of I4350 and the 90 Nosler BT in my Tikka T3. Very accurate and it IS a tough bullet. I put one through both shoulders of a small buck last year at 40 or so yards.

I've also had luck with the 85 Sierra HPBT Gameking and 42.0 I4350. The Sierra max load seems rather anemic and I've seen better accuracy near max with I4350 in this gun so I may push ahead a tad.

This is Winchester brass and CCI 200 primers.

243s and 4350 normally go together like peas and carrots. I too had great luck with 41.5 gr H4350 and the 95 BT. Mine are currently at 2.800 to fit a Rem 700 mag box and that puts them about .15-.20 off the lands. Primer didn't matter much with mine as WLR, Fed 210s, and Rem 9.5s all did well with a very slight edge to the Winchesters. So far my favorite 243 bullet and H4831 also worked almost as well.

I loaded up some 95 NBT's today for my .243 Win. Looks like 41grs is going to work out:

WW Brass
CCI 200
IMR-4350 - 41grs
95gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
120yds

How far did you go with the 4350? I usually find 42 grains of IMR4350 works with 100's so would imagine you could run a fuzz over that with 95's. Also you may try the SST, your rifle may not like a boattail bullet, I have had a couple of those. I have found too that I get better accuracy easier with a fb bullet.

Another post suggest a primer change as well. I have a 25-06 that went from a 3/4-1" gun with 2 types of standard LR primers to a 1/2-5/8" gun with mag primers and a 1 grain reduction in powder, IMR4350.

JP - my T3 likes them. Every 243 I've run liked 4350. I get better accuracy w Federal and WW brass than RP. Your rifle should do well. Ran them in a 6BR Dakota Predator 10 twist - 1/2 inch 3-shot groups at 200 yds. Deer died just as fast from the BR smile
My 243's, only a few, have done equally well with IMR4350 and H414. Present rifle u se's H414 and 75gr V-Max, great shooter!

Nice! My 243 loves I4350...43.5 grains under the 90 NBT and I get similar results. Great bullets too.

I load 41.5 IMR 4350 and 95 grain Partitions for my .243.
Shoots extremely well and kills stuff dead.

36.5 gr of IMR 4064 and the 95 bt or 95 gr CTBT out of a Mohawk 600.

For my Weatherby S2, 43.5 gr IMR 4350 and the 90 Ab or 37 gr IMR 4064 and the 85 partition.
I use rl22 with 95gr nbt
