Is it usually necessary to use a small base die for reloading the 300 savage for a model 99? How about for a 358 win model 99? Never used a small base die and plan to start reloading for these. Thanks

I don't use one in my 99. I have, though, used them for a BLR lever gun; rounds would not chamber without it.
