Yes...my supply is low of Varget...definitely need some more....
Pete
Varget is good, but in a nice 308 there are lots of powders that can match that.
My M1A makes nickel sized groups all day long like that. 42.0 grains of 4064 behind a Sierra 168. I had a McMillian match barrel contoured, installed and the rifle bedded by a AMTU gunsmith at Ft Benning.
Heck of a job shooting there pdman! You did great.
I'm betting it's the gun and not the powder!...OH, the shooter was good too lol
Yep, it's a good one. And quite easy to find now at least. I actually need to grab another can to load up more 7-08s.
If you can't find Varget, get some RL 15. Works pretty good too. Nice shooting there Pdman.
In my limited experience, 308s and Varget have a tendency to do that.
Varget works good in my 22-250. My buddy uses it in his 308 Win with Hornady 110gr with good results as well.
Too bad you didn't have accurate bullets.
8208 has replaced some of my varget loads. and its eaiser to work with and get
RL15 woulda yielded a smaller group.
There may be a better powder for the 308,but Varget is hard to beat.
My 243 shoots 85 BTHP with Varget with a ES of 10..... I think I like it!
