After recently acquiring a 243 AI, I now have 50 pieces of brass fire formed in my rifle. From what I've gathered, I can now use the following items to prepare that brass for 243 ackley improved loads:

1) RCBS 243 resizing and depriming die turned wayyyy out so it never touches the body, only punches the primer.

2) Lee Collet die to touch up the neck only.

3) RCBS 243 seater die to seat the bullet

Do I have this correct? Not a single item of 243AI specific equipment, but all should work at taking my fire formed brass into 243 AI loads.

If you have 2, than forget about trying 1.

Re:3 It depends on how the inside of the regular 243 seater is reamed. Where have you gathered there is sufficient clearance to allow the AI case to enter far enough?

So you're saying, use the Lee neck size to punch the primer and tighten up the neck. Got it.

I don't think you will get much use out of regular die.

243 Ackley case has very little taper and don't believe you will get it far enough up a regular 243 die to punch the primer, resize the neck, or seat a bullet.

You can try, but I doubt it.

you do need actual AI dies, not regular 243. Otherwise you'll be sizing the body down, even with the dies backed way out.

I guess depriming dies have gone out of fashion.

Hornady makes a 6mm seater that'll work nicely for ya.

I have a FLS for my 257 AI but have never used it; just the Lee Collet Neck Sizer & Horn seater.

Ok, so from what I'm gathering, I don't have the equipment needed to load for my 243AI.

Between the 243 RCBS 2-die set and the 243 Lee Collet die sit, I'm lacking a die that will allow me to seat a bullet. Correct?

Nope just in this instance something else can accomplish two things.
