I bought a RAR .243 on closeout at Wally a few months ago, and with deer season winding down I'd like to start load workup with it. I have put a SS 3-9HD MQ on it, and want to wring it out.

I'm looking for good loads, primarily with the 105HPBT, and 95BT. Much appreciated.

I load a max charge of H4350 for my 243s I use for deer hunting. I've always used 100gr Corelokts.

46.2grs h1000 with 105's

41.5grs imr4350 with 95gr nbt

Max charge of 4350 and 95 gr NBT. Shoots great and kills good in several 243s I've loaded for.

I am using the 95gr BT and RL17, can't remember the charge off the top of my head but it wasn't maxed out. I know that.

It's super accurate and drops deer no problem.

Good suggestion.

RL17 with that bullet has worked good for me, too. Actually a touch more accurate, but that just may be my individual rifle.

41-42 grains of H4350 for the Nosler 95 BT.
41-42 grains of RL 17 for the Hornady 105 BTHP.

You'll have a ton of fun shooting the 105s. I would start and end the experiment using those. I'm just afraid Hornady will discontinue them to force us to buy some "new and improved" version at double the cost. $98/500 is a lot of goodness.

44.5gr of IMR4831 and an 85gr TSX.

I've liked H4350 with the Nosler 95gr.BT, good velocity and accuracy, but it's getting hard to find. M.D. and others suggest IMR 4451 is a good and maybe even a better replacement for H4350. With that said, with the 95gr.BT 41grs of H4350 has been my go to combo.

41 gr RL-17 under a 100 gr partition, WLR primer in W-W hulls, 2969 fps.

Very nice first load in an old pre-64 FWT that fell in my lap some months back.

Drilled a 170+ lb doe in the shoulder, DRT, exited offside ribs.

I feel like the "Lone Ranger" but for me it's H414. Easy to get and runs through a measure very well. Just check the charge weight once in a while. With 85 and 100 grain Sierras, I use 40.0 grains. No need to set the house on fire to kill coyotes or maybe a deer at 50 to 250 yards.

I'm really liking my results with Hunter and 95-100 grainers

JG,

Throw ~41gr of IMR4350 behind that 105, and I'm betting she'll sing wink

I'm fairly new to the .243 and started with I4350 for 100gr bulets, but this past season I swiched to RL26 for my new Hawkeye. Short on time, I used 45gr behind a 100gr Sierra PH, but I'm going to work with Partitions in the off-season for more reliable penetration on bigger deer.

I also have a few hundred 90gr E-Tips. 4350 wasn't quite what they wanted apparently, so I'm going to try I4831, recommended by Nosler for that weight. 3100fps looks doable there.

JG, IT'S GOING TO BE HARD TO BEAT 4350. powdr

I reload for four 243's, all Remington 700's. I use bullets from 58 to 100 grains. Every one of those rifles likes W760 powder and 85 grain Sierra HP bullets. My favorite load is 45.5 grains of 760 with that bullet.

RL 26, Nosler brass, 95gr.Partition or 100 Interlock. That powder convinced me to quit using H4350 and H414 which were past favorites.

Put me in the H4350 and 95gr Ballistic Tip camp. 41.5-42.5 lately for mine.

JG, I think you saw the other thread but I found great accuracy and 3200 fps out of a 23" barrel using 95 BTs, Lapua brass, a Fed 210, and 46 grains of R-26. Worth a look if you can find the powder.
