Somebody school me on them. I'm a longtime Partition fan and shoot them in my 270 and 300 mag. For those of you running the 160 out to 500 yards what is your preferred load?
Thanks,
Andy
I’ve always been a 140 fan for my 7 mags, but I hunt deer and pigs.
Several have liked H1000 under a 160 Partition. Re 22 can be pretty sweet but quit running that combo ~ 10 years ago when I learned of the temperature induced velocity swings.
Put me in the H1000 club. Out of a push-feed M70 with a 26" tomato stake, I'm using 70 gr of H1000 at 3.34" OAL in neck-sized R-P cases and CCI250 primers. This puts me right at 3,000 fps which is where I like to run the 160s. Have also had good results with IMR7828.
These are my two favorites with the 160 gr. Partition. From a 26 inch Rock Creek Barrel.
Bullet: Nosler 160 gr. Partition
Powder: IMR 7828 64.0 grs.
Primer: Federal 215
Case: Federal
LOAL: 3.285 (2.745 Base to Ogive with Stoney Point)
Average Velocity: 2919.70 fps
Extreme Spread: 27.44
Standard Deviation: 10.53
Bullet: Nosler 160 gr. Partition
Powder: Alliant Reloader 25 69.0 grs.
Primer: Federal 215
Case: Federal (2.1195 Base To Datum Line with Stoney Point)
LOAL: 3.285 (2.745 Base to Ogive with Stoney Point)
Average Velocity: 3030.59 fps
ES: 34.16
SD: 17.02
I use 65.0 gr RL25 with the 160gr Partition. Shoots great in my M70 Classic stainless with 26" barrel.
Can't remember the powder charge offhand but use IMR 7828 powder with win brass and a CCI 250 primer
Thanks! That will give me someplace to start.

2017 Alliant Powder manual lists Fed 215 Primer, Fed case, RL 26, and max load of 65.9 Gr for 2996 FPS with 160 GR Nosler Part. in a 7 Rem Mag.
Rl 26 has worked so well with the heavy bullets in my 7 MM Rem Mag might be worth trying.
I used 70gns of RL25 and a 160gn Nosler Accubond in my Rem 700CDL 26" bbl. 10 shot average was 3005 fps. During load developement, I also tried Retumbo, H1000, RL22 and H4831sc but RL25 was the standout performer in terms of velocity.
Tikka 7mm rem mag Superlite 160 partition 66 rains IMR 7828 regular 3 touching at 100 .
My best load for a Sako 7mm with the 160 partition was a maximum charge of Reloader 22 with the Fed 215M primer and full length sized Remington brass. I found this load very sensitive to neck tension. This load would barely hold three shots in 1" at 100m.
I would look at RL 26 as others have mentioned as well as Ramshot Magnum but H-1000 has been the powder most have used withe the 160's and up.
66.0grs of Reloader-22 is a good one.
73.0gr of Retumbo with 160gr Accubonds 215M primers Hornady cases, about 3050fps.
RL26 and Norma MRP. H1000 is very accurate but a little slower.
66.0grs of Reloader-22 is a good one.
Agreed. Great combo in both of my 7mm's
I am another fan of Re25 in my 7 mag. I get just over 3000 fps. If you have a 26-inch barrel, Re33 works great, too. Re 22 and 7828 are both great options, as well. I have killed several elk with 160 Partitions and my farthest is 446 yards.
66.0grs of Reloader-22 is a good one.
X3, it's the best accuracy combo I've found in many diff 7RMs. Same charge works wonders with 150s as well.
I had my best speed with R26/160 and R33/175 Good luck.
Aheider: My Remington 700 Classic (24" barrel) in 7mm Remington Magnum just LOVES the 160 grain Nosler Partitions, Federal 215 M primers, Federal brass and 66.0 grains of H4831.
Good luck.
Hold into the wind

I run 65.0 gr RL25 but I see many are running up to 70 gr. Guess I better amp up my game and revisit my loads.
One of mine really liked 71.5 of Retumbo for nearly 3100"
