Brother shooters, What is the best powder and bullet for Prairie dog. I have been useing the 65gr v-max and H-322 I need some more info going to maybe a heavy bullet. Plan on going back this spring for some more fun. I forgot to include my Barrel twist, it is 1&12 Remington 700 with custom barrel, (Benchmark)
Depends on your twist for going bigger.

I've got a custom X-P 100 in a tight necked 14 twist 6BR. I use either 55 or 70 gr Ballistic Tips with either H-322 or VV-133 for doggin'.

Launch factor is excellent with great hang time......
X2, what is your barrel twist? I have a 1 in 12 and it does a pretty good job with Berger 69 High BC's, using Varget. Varget in the bullets I have used seems to give a little better results than H322. H322 may be a little fast for 65 grain bullets and up.
My 12 twist Pac Nor 6BR uses 70 Nosler BTs...70 Sierra BKs

or the awesome 75 gr V max...

Powders are Benchmark & H4895

Lapua brass & Rem 7.5's
i am shooting a 71 gr berger with 28.2 gr of re 7 lapua brass br 4 primer

lot of info on 6mmbr.com
In my 1-10 twist Pacnor I run XBR8208 and 80gr Fowler bullets.

The varmint bullets that shot the best for me were Sierra 75 Varmint.
The 75s group better than the Sierra 70gr BTHP match, but that's only in this one gun.
A buddy runs H4895 and 75gr Sierra Varmint.
Tom, for a heavy bullet I have had some success with the Speer 85gr BT. For the light bullets, I am currently trying Sierra 60HP's. Don't have enough dogs down to form a solid opinion on this combination yet, but it shows promise.
Toms22: I have a full custom 6mm Remington Bench Rest Varminter with a 26 1/2" heavy stainless Hart barrel.
I am so happy with the outstanding accuracy I get with the Nosler 70 grain Ballistic Tips and with the terminal results on Prairie Dogs and Rock Chucks that as long as Nosler makes this bullet this is what I will shoot in my 6mm BR!
I also use H 322 powder along with Federal 205M (match) primers and Norma brass.
I use a 250 yard dead on type zero and with my Leupold 8.5x25 variable scope and Du-Plex reticle I would not want to be a Prairie Dog with myself shooting at me out to about 600 yards!
Again, I have no desire what so ever to try out any bullets heavier than 70 grains for Prairie Doggin in my 6mm BR.

Reloder 7 has worked ok for me with light bullets. But the very best in my 6BR is AA2230 powder and a 55/58gr bullet @ 3850-3970. Very accurate, blows the snot out of pd's and rockchucks. A 55BT has the highest BC of the light 6mm bullets, but VMax and BlitzKing are about equally accurate in this barrel. The 65VMax is accurate from 3685-3710 using the same powder. Gun is an AII Sako with braked 24" Hart, 14twist, 0 freebore chamber.

**AA2230 powder can be magic in the 6BR, and it's one of the best powders I've used in a 17MIV. It can also vary from lot to lot.
Thanks guys to all who answered. I think when warm weather arrives I am going to try the sierra 70 gr Blk tip.
I try to use Benchmark for all my varminting and it works very well in the 6br pushing the sierra 70gr blitzking.
I shoot AA2230, Rem 7 1/2's, 55's at 3900, 3/4" at 300 yds and have much less bullet drop over the 75g V Max.

Mine is a 12 twist Lilja.
