I recently bought a 6.8 spc and was going to reload it. Is this a 270 bullet? Or is it a different cal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is a .270 caliber. Because of the smaller case capacity and oal issues the lighter .270 bullets are appropriate for this round. Several makers produce bullets especially for the 6.8. PH

.277 cal specifically, but yes, it does use the same bullet diameter as the 270 Winchester.

Buy a pound of RE 10 and a pound of RE 7. 90 grain tnts for varmint/predator round and 85 tsxs for anything bigger.
The RE 10 is generally used for heavier 95-115 grain bullets, 7 for lightweights. I use SSA brass, wolf SR AR primers, and load em in PRI mags. You can get em a little longer in those mags and they run flawlessly.
You won't be disappointed in the 85 tsx over re 7. Don't even mess with the rem brass. Junk.

Perpetuating another myth...R-P brass works just fine.
Not as good as SSA brass, but very serviceable unless using some of the nuclear loads posted on the 6.8 forum. The deer and hogs I've killed never knew what brass I was using.

It seems kinda like a waste of money to me on the rem brass. You can either buy crappy, slow loaded rounds to get it, or buy it in a bag and throw several at lest in every bag away.
I like to get all the loading out of a piece of brass I can. SSA can handle loads that the new barrels are built for. Not so sure about Rem after one or two firings. I've loaded with it and thrown lots of dented, no primer holes, off center rimer holes, loose primer pockets, pieces in the trash.
Also when loading AR's mostly there's no need for large primers. You can use the same stuff as your 223's. SSA is a vastly superior product. I've never tossed one piece. If you don't reload you can shoot SSA and sell the brass for damn near what you paid for the brass. Great customer service and great LE/Military disounts. Never had Remington call me back on the phone in an hour or less after I left a message to help me with load data. If you're gonna get serious about 6.8 reloading invest in some SSA brass. Most very experienced, serious BBL builders and 6.8 rifle builders who have good load data and are exceeding what was thought possible with the 6.8 aren't shooting any rem brass. Call Bill Wilson, Harrison at AR performance, or Bison Arms or Noveske and see if they give you any Rem brass load data.
I don't know who makes it for em, but it's tough and worth the money.
No myth, it sucks in comparison. Don't wanna load any "nuclear" loads, but it's nice to be able to load a cartridge and get what it's capable of doing out of it.

I use Rel 10X and the 95 gr Barnes TSX . I prefer SSA Brass, but would use Rem if i had to. For Coyotes I'm still shooting up 100 round of SSA Factory with the Speer 90 gr TNT that i purchased for the brass but it grouped around 1/2 inch from my AR so i decided to hunt with it. It works great on coyotes. Silver State is number one in brass and factory ammo
