Acquired a Rem 700 in 243 Win today as a back up for my 308. Looking for ideas on what factory ammo to test - I don't reload rifle, not yet anyway.

Specs: 700 SPS Varmint, 26"BBL, Twist 9 1/8"

It will be primarily used for whitetail deer and hopefully antelope and perhaps a few p dogs.

Any good advice for this rifle newbie? Open to all manufacturers and bullet weights.

with that twist rate Id say stick with the heavier bullets

go with the Hornady Custom 100g BTSP.

ALLongshot - what is considered heavier bullets for a 243? 95-100gr or heavier?
