Been unable to find these for awhile.
TAC has appeared on several sites this year. I picked up an 8-pounder 2-3 months ago, and saw both 1- and 8-pounders on another site a couple weeks ago, but they disappeared quickly. Am also seeing 1-pounders in local stores frequently.

The factory that makes TAC is only capable of making one of the Ramshot rifle powders at a time, and since last fall they have been producing TAC because it's their most popular powder. Have heard they will be switching to making others fairly soon.
Our local cabelas, sportsman and scheels had tac in stock yesterday.
TAC has been available at our local gun shows for at least the last 6 months.
Tired of seeing TAC, and not Xterminator!

I love the stuff...
I purchased three pound of TAC a couple of weeks back from Widener's .
It's been so long since I've seen TAC or 4895 I'm getting forgetful. TAC is really close to H335 in burn rate, right?
Local whorehouse has been having it pretty regularly, 1's and 8's.. RS shows it at the 335 burn rate, without the risk of cartridges going off just by sitting on a truck's dashboard.

I read that here..
If you have a local Sportsman's Warehouse in the area I'd be checking that place. TAC seems to show up quite often at our SW. I picked up another lb. of it yesterday. There was actually a lot of different powders on the shelf.
Dave,

What kind of 4895 are you looking for?
I have seen X-Terminator a couple times this year in local shops, so it is out there. Seems to come in batches, all the locals get the same powders at the same time.
Hello, John,

Sorry I should have been more specific as I know there's a teeny bit of difference.
While there's no crisis, I'm craving some H-4895. In a jug. I have about half a pound left that's "reserved" for a pet load when I shoot the last of that run. I'll load what I can get out of the rest in the jug.

Been opportunistically buying IMR 4895 in one pounders as I have some other rifles that will take a "batch" in a pound or less, but that's not the same. And honestly, I've been shooting so little, I can't tell any difference.

I also have lots (relatively) of Varget so I've made some substitutions there, but now I'm getting concerned about how much Varget remains.

So right now I'm just geared to grab whatever good 8 pounder I see on the shelf in the fast-to-mid-rate H powders -- 322, 4895, 4198. If a jug of TAC shows up before then, however, given the good vibes I've gotten from developing loads for friends' guns with TAC, I'll grab some for myself. That's why I asked, I wanted to make sure.

Dave,

Yeah, H4895 has been scarce, but have hopes it and Varget show up again soon. I am down to about three pounds myself. Did see a couple of pounds of H4350 on a local store's shelf today, so maybe some other Extremes will show soon.

IMR4895 is pretty good stuff but not the same a H4895. TAC works really well in that burn-rate slot--except not as well as either 4895 in loads below the max range.

You boys need to check out Graf and Sons...

right now they list H4895 and IMR 4895 in stock, along with W 748 and a host of other powders that have been scarce on shelves around here...in 8 pound containers.

They will also allow folks to log on to be notified when they have 8 lb containers of TAC back in Stock...

their pricing is also real competitive...

Powder Valley has been getting stuff back in stock again... just did a group order locally, and we have 32 pounds of AR Comp coming our way...

just passing it on...
Dang, I check Grafs at least twice a day and missed the H4895, probably because I wasn't really looking for it, having plenty of TAC, IMR4895 and Varget on hand. Have ordered quite a bit from them.

Around here IMR4895 has been plentiful in most stores for at least 6 months now.
Seeing the same. Slow powders are coming back, some signs of life with the mids, NO pistol poop at all. I'm even beginning to worry about whether I'll run out of Blue Dot.
know what ya mean.. I'm running low.. a little less than 10 pounds of it myself... I'm having to conserve it no less...WTH!
We are seeing some pistol powder here.

2400 at BassPro the other night, and quit a bit of the new Hodgdon's "Pistol" lately.
I picked up an 8-pounder of H110 last month, but it was the only one at the store. Haven't seen any on the Internet, though. Have also been seeing Bullseye here and there, and picked up enough to last me a few years.
Hoarder John. That's your new tag.

I remember my LGS proprietor telling me he's out of Blue Dot for his own toys. So now that's a running joke. "Seen any?" "Seen any what?"
Probably not much help but if anyone in central Idaho or is passing through I have two 1 pound cans of TAC that I would let for $26 per can. I bought it a while back "just because".

you hadn't heard....

some guy in Oregon bought the last 3 train loads they made of it... along with the manufacturing rights...
Seafire International! I knew it. But I'm good with the CEO, right?

And Drover -- don't sell that TAC. Try it and shoot it, and then you'll be just like the rest of us, sniffing around like junkies for a big enough fix.
Dave,

You are probably right. The only reason for offering it up is that I have a 3 - 4 years supply of other powders laid in and I thought I would offer it up in case someone desperately needed it. I shoot 40 gr bullets in my 223's and from the data it appears that TAC may not be a good choice for bullets that light.

You're right, 40's are probably better with X-Ter. But man, 50s and 55s over TAC do good things.

Now, where's my fix? My crosshairs are starting to shake.
