I'm looking for a faster powder for 90 gr 6.8SPC and was wondering if anyone uses a lot of H-322? What do you use it for? light bullets in 223? 6x45?

Interested in it because it is supposed to meter well (fine grained, for extruded powder)

Thanks,

Sycamore

I use it in my 6mm PPC and have no reason to try anything else...
Posted By: fredIII Re: Anybody love H-322? - 12/31/15
I have had luck with the 90 and RL 7.
Posted By: Seafire Re: Anybody love H-322? - 12/31/15
I run it in the 223, 22.250, 243 and 260 Remington...

thru all bullet ranges in the 22 calibers...

243 it sees use from 55 to 85 grainers which is most of my off season shooting weights...

and the 260 I use it with the 85 grain Sierra HP, the 90 gr TNT Speer and the various 100 grainers...I also have tried it with good results with the 120 grain ballistic tip...

Works well in the 30/30 with 150 grainers also...

am standardizing the use of H 322, and AR Comp in the above cartridges with those bullet weights...

they are available, accurate, no temp sensitivity...

No love for H332. I couldn't get the accuracy in my 6.8 that I could with Rl-10x with the 95 and 100 grain bullets. I found Rl-7 to be more accurate and faster with the 85gr. TSX and MPG.

I use it quite a bit for light bullets in all of my .223's

I've used MANY pounds of it over the last 30 years in 7mm TCU loads in my Contender for handgun silhouette - absolutely works great in that cartridge. It's also worked very well in the .222 Rem, mostly with 50 grain bullets. And, yes it meters very well.

don't know why you couldn't get any accuracy in your 6.8, but in a 260 Rem with an 85 grain Sierra HP:

50 yds in a brand new barrel...

100 yds in a brand new barrel:

so I don't have any complaints whatsoever...

H322 what my go to powder for my 6BR.
Posted By: Dave_Skinner Re: Anybody love H-322? - 01/01/16
What Grand said, just in a 22 BR.
Not too chabby in the 223 with lightweights either.

It is an excellent temp stable powder. My JP CTR-02 AR 223 chews it up with 50 grain Sierra Blitzkings. Prairie dog hunting in 100+ degree heat has shown no change in point of impact with this legendary powder.
Posted By: Klikitarik Re: Anybody love H-322? - 01/03/16
I have rarely been without at any time in the past 25-30 years...usually in an 8 pounder. It was the single powder I could count on for 385 grain cast bullets (Lyman) in my old early 70s Marlin 1895 with shallow groove rifling. And it works so well in other applications...like 64 PPs in the 223, etc.

'Twas the only powder I loaded in a couple thousand .223's for my old red pad Ruger 1-B. It gave me 1/2-3/4MOA accuracy with Sierra 50-55 grain bullets and since I was shooting groundhogs like a madman with it and wasn't in a big experimenting mood at the time, I left well enough alone and caused the LGS to be devoid of the powder for a long time.

20.5 grains of H322 and any good 50 grain SP do marvelous things
in my 722 .222, usually sparked by Remington 7 1/2 primers .........
Posted By: VarmintGuy Re: Anybody love H-322? - 01/04/16
Sycamore: I use a fair amount of H 322 - its stayed "consistent" for me over several decades now.
4 of my 6 Varminters in 222 Remington prefer (accuracy wise) H 322 and 1 of my 2 Varminters in 22 Remington Bench Rest prefers H 322.
Also my ultra-accurate factory stock Remington 40XB-BR KS in 6x47 is MOST accurate when using H 322 powder.
Best of luck in your load development.

It is some good powder and plain just works.

From 22 cal to 45 cal.
Accurate as well.

Anybody here remember when Hodgdon was selling H322 GI Surplus for about 3 bucks a pound? Tried it for my 7 TCU and then the 222. The stuff shot lights out. Still got a little left.

Use it in my .204 with a 39gr Blitz, all I can say is "awesome"
Posted By: velvetant Re: Anybody love H-322? - 01/09/16
I use it in my 223 50gr bullets loads and in two of my 6x45
loads, 55gr and 70gr bullets.

I use it in my 223 with 60 gr Vmax and BT...excellent powder !
Posted By: Hunterapp Re: Anybody love H-322? - 01/21/16
I have used it in one caliber, 17 Hornet with 25 grain bullets to good effect. Then I tried Accurate 2200 as a alternative and the metering was so much better and performance a tad better.

Not a 6.8 guy here though if I were considering H322 in this cartridge, I'd also give Accurate 2200 a try. Looking over the data for 85 & 90 grain bullets might make things look little more favorable for the A2200 option.

Again I am not a 6.8 guy so no personal experience with that application. Has any one here compared A2200 to H322 in this application?

Did a little google search and came up with this thread on another forum that seems applicable.

Excellent results in the 6.8 SPC, it's the only powder I use for that cartridge. Not too shabby in the 204, and pretty good in the 223.

just ordered an 8# jug from PV.......

fuels my 20 Vartarg & 20-222.......

I use to use a lot of it in a 7mm br with 100 , 120 and 140 gr. bullets. should work good for your 6.8.

How many grains H322?
What rifle?

Best I've gotten so far in a RAP is 5/8" 5-shot with RL15.
Posted By: navlav8r Re: Anybody love H-322? - 02/04/16
In my half dozen 222's, without too much experimentation, H-322 has been number one in all but one. In the odd one out, IMR 4198 has been best. I focus mostly on 40 grainers...B/tips, Blitzkings, Vmax's.
Posted By: Dustylongshot Re: Anybody love H-322? - 02/07/16
I use 41.1 grains of H322 behind a Sierra 155 grain Palma bullet in my 308 for the 200 and 300 yard stages. Very light recoil and shoots lights out.
