Best friend shot one for years with 52 grains of 4831 and 100 grain Core Lokts, used 45 grains of 4895 with 75 HP's for off season varmints .....

I have used 6mm-284 data on the idea that hodgdon manual I have lists the 30-284 and the 30-06 with the same data, also The Reloadersnest has lots of good data you can review.

Paper,

I recommend 240 Weatherby data as a starting point. Case capacity and dimension are almost identical to the 6mm-06.

I only use 105 gr bullets in my 6-06. For the 105's, RL-25
is my go to powder, it generates the highest velocities and tightest groups. MRP is my second choice if RL-25 isn't available.

I run RL22 with 105 A-Max. Charge has been 52grs, but it's thrashing the brass quicker than I'ld like. I'm going to back it off some. I also think RL-25 might be the better choice for heavies, but I have 8# of the 22.

just a thought....

requiring a Long Action, what does the 6/06 give ya that a 6mm Rem AI won't give ya on a long action, except maybe requiring more powder to do the exact same thing?

having a 6mm Rem with a one in 7 twist, on a Long Action, does pretty darn well for velocity with the heavier 6mm Bullets...

You never mentioned twist.

I'd go 8 twist and shoot 105 gr. Scenars.

My 10 twist .240 does great with 100 NPT's over MRP.

10 twist won't stabilize 105's, at least not mine.

Sounds like the start of a good build... Like Dirtfarmer said, go no slower than a 1-8 twist. 1-7 wouldn't be a bad choice either if you are going to shoot heavies.

Well if an 06/6mm will give you more than my 6mm Remington, with a 115 grain Berger... that is even more fun...

with a 1 in 7 twist and long throat...and RL 19,
my Remington will throw 115 Bergers out the end at 3250 fps...

Darn round actually looks like an Atlas Missile...
