Good evening!

My local gun store has a Rem 700 5r .223 for sale. Has a 24” Heavy bbl, green web on black HS Precision stock, 1:9 twist 5r rifling, and Leupold bases and rings.

I’m not a huge fan of .223, but figured it might be good trade fodder if I can get in it right. Or, it may be a joy to shoot and I may play with it!

What is the value of this thing? Great condition, well taken care of, and original owner said it was shot less than 100 times.

Thanks in advance!

700 tops

Rate of Twist?

A buddy had one that was 1-9 and would not shoot heavier bullets.

What's the gun store asking ?
6 months ago? Probably $8-900. Right now, I agree with the poster above that $700 is a more reasonable value...things have really slowed down.
It's worth 900 all day. Has a 300 dollar stock a 600 dollar action. 5r makes things a bit better. 1:9 is what kills that deal. Go 1:8 with a 223. But hey, if you like it, buy it.
I’d say 800-1000. If you shoot it you might keep it tho…

My 223 shoots superbly with just about anything and stabilizes 73gr Berger and the Hornady 75hpbt
Local Ace Hardware Has One At $829.Its Been Their A While.. it's In 308
I realized it was SS after my answer. So maybe $800
I've a had a couple of 1-9 twist Remington 223's and they shot bullets in the 75-77 grain weight very good.
I'd probably buy @ $700 and pass @ $800. For $950 you can buy a new Tikka T3X Varmint for comparison.
They are asking $700
$700 out the door would be a pretty good deal, IMO anyways.
Yep. $700 out the door is decent.
I’d do it at $700 OTD. I passed on one last year at $800 just because I felt like you do about it. Just not crazy about it. I don’t think you can count on anything in this market. Who would have thought I couldn’t move a mountain rifle for $900 shipped.

I’m glad I waited and got a Mod 7KS in 223 like I really wanted.
