But my advice would be to look for a great deal on a 270,280,30-06, and have it re-barreled with an appropriate twist rate. If I remember, most factory 35 whelens were 1:16 guns. I put a Krieger #3 with 1:12 twist on a model 70 featherweight and it slings darts!!
You would probably spend nearly the same $ on a rifle that someone considers “special” and it won’t shoot near as well

I may end up going that route thank you for the info
As another alternative, consider having JES rebore a suitable LA rifle. He only charges $300 for the work.
