Up for your consideration is a Merkel K1 in .308 Winchester. It is wonderfully accurate with the 130 Barnes TTSX. I'd rate condition as 98%. It will come with quick detach rings, plus a leather sling. Feel free to call/text 606-939-2906.

Asking 3,000 shipped.
Trades for 16/28 gauge shotguns considered.

Now that's some wood.

I have one of these--which is also VERY accurate!

47g of Tac and a 130TTSX gave this accuracy and velocity was a chronographed 3,130fps from the 24" barrel.

Although I am partial to K1's vs. K3's as I prefer the Recknagel twist mounts on the K1 vs the Blaser Style saddle mount of the K3.......

This K3 Jagd Stutzen in 308 Win. suffices for the present.

Now if it was a K3 Extreme in 6.5 x 55 for $3K, I'd be a player

BTT for a nice one!

Yeah, it is a great "walkabout rifle. I walked around 5 miles, up and down, to take this caribou:

The light weight also helped noticeably when packing out caribou parts....

Do these stocks have any sort of cast to them, or are they just a straight stock with a right-hand cheek piece?
Posted By: Ky221 Re: Merkel K1 .308 - 02/23/24
Man I really don't know.

Mine has a little cast-off, I would guess around 1/2". Can measure it more precisely if you would like....

Damn, I’m a lefty. Had one in 7x57R and sold it to custom bolt several years ago. Loved the gun except couldn’t get barrels.

I bought mine out a line-up of around 8 rifles in the show/sales room at Jess Briley Manufacturing in Houston around 20 years ago. The chamberings included the .257 Weatherby Magnum and 7x57R--both of which I've owned, and are great rounds.

But I chose the .308 because I primarily wanted it as a take-down travel rifle. In my experience .308 factory ammo is widely available just about anywhere big game is regularly hunted--and is highly effective even with "cup-and-core" bullets, due to the moderate muzzle velocity. But the .308 also had the nicest wood, which ain't as rational--but there it is.

As a result I've never felt the need for another barrel.....

Very German...

Edit: And just to add FWIW, if I could only own 1 rifle is would be a 308 Win.

If I had discipline or maturity, then I'd sell my bolt guns and hunt with this one for the rest of my life.

Free bump, though.
