As the title says I have a 1944 sporterized Gewehr 98/40 in 8mm. This was done probably sometime in the 60s or 70s but seems to have been a nice job. Very smooth action. Lots of pics at the link below. $550 plus actual shipping from Oklahoma.

The G98/40 is actually a variant of the Hungarian Mannlicher model 35M. Not a Mauser at all.
I originally had this listed that way with the 98/40 designation elsewhere and was “corrected” by someone who thought they knew more. Thanks for the clarification. Updated.
