What’s a fair price for 1# jugs of RL-26 at a gun show? What would you be willing to pay? Cash, no tax or hazmat added. Thanks in advance

I have seen it go for $80 around here

Depends on how badly you want it….?🤷‍♂️🤔

Are you buying or selling?

Considering prices of all powders are now going back up, after beginning to come down a few months ago, I’d say, if you are a buyer, don’t expect to pay less than $100/lb.

And, IMO, that’s being conservative. Considering no tax or hazmat, I’m afraid it’d still sell at $125/lb if you could find it.🥴

A year ago I found a seller who offered me 3 lbs of RL26 for $215($71.66/lb). After a hiatus of 3 years since seeing it on the shelf, I gladly paid his asking price.
At that time H4350/H4831 was going for $50-$55/lb. in my neck of the woods. Today, H4831 is going for $63-$65/lb. locally when available.

It’s all relative.

Just to add, at a Houston gun show 6 months ago a vendor had a case of RL26, $90 a lb, I passed

I own a Model 70 in .270 win that shoots 140gr Accubonds into bughole groups at 3,200 fps with the stuff…..it’s not my target practice rifle or load. It’s my hunting load for out west, in one of my favorite hunting rifles.

Those 3 lbs of RL26 will last me the rest of my hunting days if necessary. The peace of mind knowing I don’t need to chase after RL26 anymore was worth the few extra dollars I spent to secure it. But, I am a Lefty…and am used to paying a little extra for the inconvenience of being a southpaw.😜

It is an incredibly versatile powder if you can find it.

But, I’m glad to be no longer “actively” looking for it.😁

$75-$80 around me. Been seeing different RL powders available the past month in our local store. Picked up RL22 and RL19 as I haven’t seen it on the shelves in quite some time.

I’d bet money he didn’t return home with that case of powder.🤔

I visited a friends sporting goods store on Wednesday. He had a good selection of the Reloder series of powders. Most if not all were marked $69.99/lb. I made the comment that I'm glad I probably have all the powder I need to last the rest of my life. He told me there would be a price increase the first of May. I hear rumor the price will go up and then the supply will dry up. Might be a good time to buy what you might need regardless of the price, if you really need it.
Good Luck everyone!

As someone said, depends on how bad you need it. No RL26 near here in gunstores or shows in last 3 years. I use RL 26 in several cartridges and was down to last half pound. It is one of my main go to powders as it will work in any med to large case but not the overbores. I get great accuracy and lower pressures. I ended up paying $125 pound and was glad to find it. If you do not use it, then any price other than giveaway is high to you. However if you use it then you pay what you have to. I have enough now to last me forever, as I am 71.

I just paid $222.00 for 3 #'s of RL22 at my dealer. And I got cans of BallC2 marked $2.95. That 3 lb. & 300 100 Gr. TTSX will take care of my 25-06 for the rest of my days.

Helpful thread. I recently bought 9.5 lbs. and am thinking of selling 5 lbs. of it.

Man I’m glad I got 24# stashed away! I just passed on 2# for 60$ a #. It’s the first I’ve seen it in 3 years.

I found I can get virtually the same velocity in my 6.5-06 using Nosler 140gr AB, with Ramshot Magnum, instead of Rel 26.

I have looked for 3 years for 1 - 2 lbs just to hunt with my 270. I have never have been able to find it. If anyone has any quantity and lives in the SE, DM please. I am also driving to Enumclaw WA this summer to visit my son. I could veer off if I needed to.

Thanks,

Brad

I just looked at my stash, seven one pounders at $29/pound bought at one of my LGS's three years ago. The owner, who I know well, says that his costs on Alliant products have gone up a bunch. Crazy times.
